Congratulations on the win Belfry and Good Luck in the State Championship.

Russell has a class act of a staff and are ahead of schedule. Maynard will make them very, very tough and this young team will improve next year. Belfry just too strong... dominated the LOS and had too many playmakers.

RUSSELL

102 Total Yards

23 Passing

69 Rushing

BELFRY

299 Rushing

35 Passing

334 Total Yards

Hatfield 104 yards, 3 TD

Taylor 1/2 35 yds TD INT, 13 carries, 87 yards

Congrats to Belfry on the Win. Also to Russell on a good season,

Congrats to Belfry. Congrats to Russell on a great year.

You can look at those stats and tell that Belfry played very well defensively. It was another matter seeing it in person, and I'm not sure the stats give justice to just how much Belfry dominated on D. Kudos to the front line, especially, who really forced their will upon the Russell offensive line. Belfry played in the Red Devil backfield all night and it was the difference in the game. Russell didn't cross midfield until late in the 3rd quarter and they barely gained 100 yards on the night.

Belfry moves on to a 5th consecutive state title game. They won last year after losing 3 in a row to Central. How fitting that they meet again. If you ask those close to the program what has been the difference in Belfry's bringing their game to the next level, you would get a variety of answers. I can tell you, without hesitation, that I think the one thing that has driven them to get better is... Louisville Central.

I have really enjoyed watching this group of seniors, they are talented, albeit small in numbers. This team is young, only 7 senior on the roster and they play a ton of sophomores and a few freshmen. Those seniors, however, are a special group all the way around and I hope they go out with a ring.

I was impressed with Russell tonight also. They were disciplined and very well coached. They played with grit, and even though they were just up against a better team, you could see the difference in this team and the fire in their bellies. It was odd seeing them run out of the gun instead of the old wing T, however, lol. Congratulations to the Red Devils on a great season, it is good to see them back in the hunt and they will be very good next year.

The QB, McKee is a great dual threat, and he and the RB, Conley both return for next season. That will be a fun backfield to watch. Korzep is a man on both sides of the ball and I know Russell will miss him.

The Russell crowd was also impressive, they were big in numbers and very loud.

I'm looking forward to being in the same region as the Red Devils next season. Just like old times, it just isn't the same unless Belfry and Russell are battling it out in the post season.

This won't be Russell's last trip to the state semifinals. Coach Maynard is a great coach, and I know he'll have Russell as one of the top teams in AAA every year.

Congrats to Russell on a great season, and congrats to Belfry on making it to their 5th straight championship game. I hope Coach Haywood and the Pirates get another championship next weekend.
