C-PAP machines

Featured Replies

It used to take me an hour or more to fall asleep. I now am out in 20 minutes and do not wake up much during the night. No more daytime naps for me.

I used one for a couple of years then when I lost weight my apnea corrected itself.

I slept much better with it but for about 3 months I had to take a sleeping pill to get to sleep, the noise of the machine kept me awake.

Also I'm a stomach sleeper and it took me a while to get used to sleeping on my back.

Why do you need a 2nd test? If you failed the test they should have ordered you a c-pap machine right then.
75 nailed it. They want me to come back for another night where they will monitor me with the machine hooked up. They will gradually adjust the pressure to find my "sweet spot" for lack of a better word.

For the record the sleep study was miserable. I don't sleep well in a "strange" bed anyway and knowing I HAD to sleep made it damn near impossible for me to go to sleep that night. Good drugs corrected that eventually.

I have been using a c-pap for 12 years and yes it works! The one I use is a res-med active mask which is soft and flexible and took only a couple of nights to get used to and now don't even think about it very comfortable.

I just started using one this past Summer and love it. Attached is the model I use and it has a built in humidifier. My mouth piece covers my nose and mouth as I am a mouth breather when I sleep.

I highly recommend it for people that have Sleep Apnea. You can DIE from this people...see Reggie White.

I was diagnosed with Apnea over the summer and I've used that same machine. I received a voice mail the other day about ordering supplies. How often do you need to change things out?

Only difference with mine is I don't have the mask, just the nasal pillows

You shouldnt need to change out anything on it this early. They are just trying to get you to buy supplies. I clean my tube and mask with soap and water every few days. Mine was brand new....no reason to buy anything at this point.

I need a sleep study bad, however I have been putting it off for this very reason. Are you saying they will give you sleeping pills to help you sleep during the study?

I didnt think it was that bad. They wire you up pretty good but in the end I had to do something. My snoring was killing my wife and me in the process. The mask is not that big of a deal, takes a few days to get used to.

I love the flow of air it gives you, sometimes I wake up and leave it on while watching TV or reading. You will feel a ton better. Do it !!

You will have a ton of calls trying to sell you something. Many people I know change out the mask and hose every 6 months. I clean mine and change out when needed. One lasted about 18 months.

Nasal Pillows? What is that.

A friend of mine says he go the mask that only covers his nose.

How many different kinds of masks are there.

Mr. cat got one earlier this year. Before the machine, he was waking up 43 times an hour and while he was sleeping, I was wide awake listening to his snoring. Now we are both sleeping through the night and both of us are less tired during the day. Life is good at the Compound.

Yes. After I laid in the bed and tossed and turned for a couple of hours they gave me a sleeping pill. Maybe if you tell them you anticipate problems they'll give you one at the outset.

I used to wake up gasping for breath. It was terrifying.
