As someone who has traveled the state this year and watched numerous games, I rank Allen as the fourth best senior player I've seen. I've seen A.J. Slaughter play five times and feel he is the best player in the state. PRP's Vincent Crutcher and Eastern's Robert Buckner are close behind Slaughter. I watched Allen play all four games in the state tournament last year and have seen him four times this year. He ranks behind the other three I mentioned, barely edging out Owensboro Catholic's Jay Ivey.

UKBellCo. How many of these players have you seen play? Allen and who else? If you haven't seen all five play, you can't say with any credibility that Allen is the best player in the state. He's just the best player YOU'VE seen play this year. And Allen may score 20 on Indiana, but it will likely be 20 in both games combined. I'm not sure why you're taking this one personal. From what I've read on here, I'd say westsider has seen as much if not more basketball games than anyone else on BGP. When comes to evaluating players and teams, he is to high school basketball what letabrotherspeak is to UK basketball -- usually dead on accurate.

I have watched both Allen and Slaughter, and considering this debate is about them, thats the only 2 I need to have watched.

I am really not taking it personal...... it just blows my mind how ppl refuse to give Allen the props he deserves, and it seems that its primarily because he isnt the best athlete or college recruit.

Westsider may have seen a million games..... that is essentially irrelevant considering I know plenty of ppl that have seen more basketball then I have but don't know diddly. I have also known ppl who have watched less basketball and know a ton.

Just because you think he is dead on accurate because you agree with his opinions is also irrelevant.

He wasnt too dead on accurate about Mason Co. or Madison Central.

His opinion is just as relevant as yours and mine.

Wasn't I? I've characterized both as inconsistent, up-and-down teams ... their season-long performance indicates that.

I never said his opinion was irrelevant..... I said that the fact that his opinion coincides with you opinion doesnt make you dead on accurate anymore then if my opinion is coincided with someone elses. Just because you agree with what someone says doesnt mean they are dead on accurate.

You also characterized them as NOT top 25. I think they proved they were.

Folks lets get this back to the game or start a thread about who is better.:irked:

Totally agree. I think I even recommended that earlier. The Mr. Basketball thread is not here.

Quoting my post of Jan. 23 ...

"Madison Central is barely a top-25 team, if one at all. Other than the win over South Laurel, the Indians have done little to establish themselves as such. At best, they are the #5 or #6 team in their region.

Mason County ... lost to Southwestern, then was bombed by Lexington Catholic at home. The Royals are not a top-25 team."

At the time, those statements were accurate, in my estimation. Both teams improved over the course of the season, but both teams were also very up-and-down. By the end of the season, Madison Central had played its way into the top 25. Mason might have, but barely.

And while we're rehashing ... you also claimed that three out-of-state teams that South Laurel beat were "top teams in their state" ... two of the three ended the season with losing records.
