I will be interested to follow the replies to this thread to learn how good, or how not so good we are going to be.

To be perfectly honest we really don't know.

Fact 1 - We lost 6 quality seniors to graduation. Burns went on to Centre, and Trentman to Christian Brothers. A healthy Jake Jennings was also a huge loss. This team went 26-6 and gave Coach Mike Code the 200th win of his ten year career. That is a lot to replace.

Fact 2 - The 13-14 understudies weren't shabby. A primarily sophomore loaded JV team went 15-3, winning a share of the NKAC Division II title and winning the 37th District Championship. With the 13-14 varsity top-loaded they simply didn't get a lot of playing time. The question is, Can they step up into full blown varsity competition and be competitive.

Fact 3 - Spencer Hackworth is our only varsity returning starter, BUT he is joined by seniors Blake Saunders, Jon Zink, Clay Kramer, and the addition of Gabe Roberts who is rejoining the team after a three year hiatus. If Spencer Hackworth is our best player it could be a long season for the Mustangs who haven't had a losting season in 21 years. However, if Junior Jackson Crawford, who was the JVs leading scorer, Roberts, Kramer, Zink and the other seniors and a few juniors can step up, we will be better than most expect.

Fact 4 - We have 8 juniors in this program and there is not a wallflower among them. This bodes well for the JV again this year, our varsity depth, and next year's varsity team.

As always we will be a disciplined offensive unit, and an intense defensive team. We feel that we remain well positioned to defend our "A" Regional title and expect to be back in Frankfort in the last week of January. Getting sent home to practice, is also a possibility.

Clearing the 37th District hurdle of Campbell County and Scott will be a major challenge.

Was the player Brossart had transfer to Dayton one of the above that you mentioned?

No, the player who transferred to Dayton was sophomore Sam Brewer.

Sam would have played JV ball behind a strong group of junior guards.

If there is one thing for sure Brossart will be competitive night in and night out and should never be underestimated. If not one of the top teams in the region will definitely be in the All A conversation every year. Coach Code will have a strategy in place that will have his team ready for whatever is thrown at them. That I am sure of.

Agree. Never underestimate the Mustangs.

Very nice feature, Mustang! Well done.

Mustang does a lot for Brossart hoops and Brossart as a whole. A great ambassador and asset to the school.

I think they will be better than people think this year.
