CCH Student Section at Rupp

I was present for the 04 and 06 cheering sections during the CovCath games. They were both off the chart AWESOME. I find myself rooting for CovCath even though I live 2 hours away.

:thumb: That's the goal in mind.

Tonight, during the announcements of the cheerleading awards, they acknowledge the Covington Catholic student section. So people even stood up to give them a standing ovation.

Next year well have to take the title!!!!

nWo is correct, it was almost like the KHSAA Commissioner was trying to say that everybody in Rupp knew that CovCath had the best student cheering section, but because they didn't have any "cheerleaders" they couldn't win this award, but that they deserved it, as their student cheering section was the best in the Commonwealth....... No Kidding, it was like she was embarrassed to give the award to anyone else but CovCath.....:dancingpa

On a side note: After the awards were given out some Apollo students tried to do the wave like CovCath from bottom to top of their section. After two attempts that failed miserably, they tried to do the slow motion wave when many, many fans in Rupp (I kid you not) yelled at them that they weren't CovCath.....It was way cool....:D

Finlay look for Apollo to be in the Finals come Saturday....They looked very good tonight.....

I am always a fan of any 9th region team at tourney time. Objectively, the game itself looked like two "have nots" who had been up partying all night. The guy in front of me was from Warren Central. He turned to me and said " the cheering section is a lot more interesting than this game."

When you have a dog in the fight, the game is always interesting especially when it is close. On the other hand, it was an artistic disaster which will produce an easy second round win for Mason county.

Not even close.....Apollo killed Mason Co. and it now makes CovCath look even better, as Mason Co. in my opinion laid an egg in this game big time.

Killed?!?!

Beat yeah. The better team won tonight but at least Mason advanced to the second round.

Not bad for a team that wasn't even suppose to win the region and is so young.

And your point is??? CovCath gave Apollo a much better game than did Mason, and the Mason fans who sat near me during the CovCath vs Apollo game were giddy with excitement that CovCath lost and that they would kill Apollo easily....

My point is that Mason played on Friday and Cov Cath did not. Mason was worried about playing CC. Take that as a compliment.

How exactly did it go? Was the commissioner giving out awards to the cheerleaders, and what did she say about our section?? Any info is helpful.

Actually it was the president of KAPOS. I have the announcement but not with me. It a nutshell it said that every cheerleader could take lessons from the way the CCH section conducted themselves in supporting their team and the class with which they did this. It was VERY good and very deserving. You guys were just too cool. I would have loved to have been part of something like that in my high school days. I will post the exact announcement later on.

The cheerleaders from the different teams came down to the floor at half time in their uniforms, then the game announcer introduced the Commissioner as there to give out the awards for the Cheerleaders. When the Commish spoke, the first thing she said (I won't try to quote her but) I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Students Section of Covington Catholic. They are not represented here tonight, because they don't have Cheerleader, but they were so creative and filled up Rupp with there cheering (or something close) and the fans at Rupp stood up and cheered for CovCath...... It was great......

I think a new trophy, this time with a Boxing Glove needs to be added to the trophy case at the entrance to the gym, to stand besides THE SHOE....

Haha that would be awesome. The state didn't issue that trophy though, the Votel family did.

I did know that, as I know "Dad" very well...Not a bad left handed pitcher in his younger days as a CovCath student.....and it bother him that he was going to miss the Colonels trip to Rupp, but......lets see, a trip to the NCAA to see son play, or to Rupp to see the Colonels Crazies Cheer and the Colonels play, you make the call...:D

His son's team didn't have a bad showing either, really gave the #2 seed a scare.
