November 10, 201411 yr I totally understand the concept but I don't get why people would contribute to things like this. In the past week, I have had three FB friends start one of these pages. One needs a new camera, one wants to "sing her way" through Europe and now one wants to "further his education" and travel to Belize for a month. Whatever happened to working hard and saving your money??

November 10, 201411 yr I'm sure some use it for silly, or self-serving reasons. But a friend of mine set one up for a young couple with a baby who lost everything in an apartment fire, and was able to raise enough to get them into a new apartment and furnish it. I like the concept, but only choose to donate to things I feel are worthwhile. Who knows...maybe that person who wants to sing their way through Europe has friends/family/wackadoo strangers who think it's worth donating to.

In all seriousness, there are several good reasons to set up such a fund. I was poking fun at the bad ones.

Totally get the helping other people in need out thing and if I were to give to someone, those are the type of people I would give to. :thumb:
