I would not say any coaching changes need to be made . The program is moving in the right direction . Are there some things needing improvements ? Ofcourse ! But I support them. The staff have already started working on making adjustments . The team's approach with discipline, and leadership lacked this season . The conditioning, also slacked as the season moved forward. I am confident, they learned from this season's mistakes.

They lacked a strong senior class like last year. I think they will see one again next year though. Some of the kids that needed to step up as leaders didn't,but they are young. Conditioning is a tough animal they had several kids start both sides of the ball. Even the most well conditioned kids get wore down doing that the entire season. I think this years freshman class will be special as well they won the middle school championship and this years "freshman championship"

You cannot change a culture in 2 years. Scott will be fine with the coach they have at the helm. Next year will be a big year for them. With the feeder program in place I anticipate watching good football for a long time Taylor Mill.

 

Coach Campbell had the culture already changing. Everything was going in the right direction and the talent they've had the past couple of years. Scott should have had play-off wins and should be a little further along. I just think its time to look at what's working and what's NOT . Talking with some in the program , they just don't want to see Scott slide backwards and be the same OLD SCOTT ! Change Can Be Good ! :thumb:

I'm sorry , but every year that freshman class is going to be Special ! ( How many years now? ) Freshman don't win at the Varsity Level and by the time they are there what happens ? Been around the program to long and football. I would pick 2 coaches on that staff that would take the program to the next level. This years junior class didn't play a freshman schedule and won 2 games as 8th graders, and the Sophomore class was the same...2 wins as 8th graders, and no freshman schedule. Based on past records, this years class really overachieved, and this years junior class was lifted by transfers. The feeder program is now heading into its 5th year, and all levels had a good season. Scott is on the right track.

We are splitting hairs here but I believe the Josh Castleman, Ben Osborne, Kameron Crim Freshmen class was better than this years class. This years Freshman class may have the best football player to ever step on the field at Scott once his high school career is over (TBD) but I would take last years Seniors as the best and deepest freshmen class Scott has ever had. Maybe they didn't have a Freshmen Championship game that year but that class lost its very first game (SK) while they were trying to figure out who the QB was going to be and once they settled on Osborne they didn't lose again. SK was their only lose that year and they lost that game pretty much from a pick-six thrown by the QB who was replaced by Ben.

That is probably a fair question. I would say though, of the last two years, the only games they've lost that they were favored in would be the Mason County game this year. All the other losses were either toss up games or games they were expected to lose. They certainly weren't favored in either playoff game. And expectations this year weren't very high, and I'd say they performed as expected.

 

Next year is the key year. Expectations will be very high.

 

I think a lot of people said they would beat Cooper. I honestly don't remember but thought they were the favorite heading into that game?

I thought that class did win the Freshman Championship?? But yes, we might be splitting hairs. This year's freshman team is not just about Nelson Perrin. There are several other excellent players....Alex Thurza, Seth Yeary, Sam Dormbach are just a few. I do think the class of '13 might have had more speed, especially in the backfield. This class too only had one loss, to SK, where they had the lead for a good chunk of the game. Of course we won't know for sure for another 3 years which class was better. What Scott really needs is to have good Freshman classes every year. They don't need to win titles (Freshman titles are nice, but don't really mean much), but they need to be able to keep fielding competitive, deeper freshman teams. Until they can consistently keep fielding freshman teams of 25 or so kids, they will struggle to build the depth they need to really be a top level team.

Yeah Scott was favored to beat Cooper. You are right.
