Chances of 2A Walton Verona winning first ever state title?

Featured Replies

While WV is a good team, I am still having trouble understanding how beating a 5-5 LCA team is being considered a "big" win. Now, in terms of winning a state title, CAL and DeSales may have something to say about that.

Not hard to figure out really, NCC is 4-5 would have been considered a big win by Newport. Yes?

Of course it would. They are city/district rivals as well as that game determined district champs. I just don't understand the hype of LCA I guess. But that is just my opinion.

It was a good comparison by sarge. LCA has been ranked about the same as NCC most of the year, just a couple notches behind them.

I knew/know nothing about LCA other than their record. So with that, I can admit when I'm wrong.

I don't even think this is WV's best team in recent years.

Let me say it Tradition!!!! Desales, Bardstown, Glasgow, Middlesboro, Somerset, Newport Central Catholic and Danville have been down this road many times. The thing about them is they never panic because their players feel like they deserve to be there. Now CAL, Caldwell, Owenesboro Catholic, and my sleeper is Murray because they have also traveled down this road, but not just in recent history. 2A in my opinion from top to bottom is a Super Class in its own because if I am not mistaken has 11 different teams that combined for about 37 Titles. Danville has 10 of those.

Fort Knox not mentioned has 3. So if you look at it from that prospective it is very tough to stay on top. Good Luck To all 2A schools.

Walton has a very good team with alot of experience and talent .

No way would I have jinxed my team with a post like this! Just Sayin!

Sarge, thoughts? Where do you see your Cats headed in the playoffs?

I understand feeling good about your team and winning your district, but don't get reality mixed with fiction.

I have seen most of the top teams play in the east and I think Walton can play with any of them. I have only seen CAL play in the west so I am not as informed on those teams. I personally don't like this thread and would like to get by Holy Cross first.

Maybe or maybe not but the teams around them aren't as well. Very hard to compare teams of different eras or years.

I've only been able to watch their game against Newport. Have they fixed their Xtra point team/kicking issues? Special teams put them in a huge hole against Newport.

Their kicker has a huge leg, can hit from 45+. Not a issue for them anymore but strength.
