Watched the freshman girls Highlands vs Simon Kenton game yesterday. The three middle school kids playing up from Simon Kenton had a strong showing in the win. I was told they are 7th graders.

Stamper and Vickers both from Summit View and Jones from Twenhoffel. 3 nice players and also will be playing on same AAU team next year together as well.

Twenhofel has some good 6th grade girls in the pipeline as well for SK. One will probably move up next year. They also have a girl who is 6'2"!! The future looks pretty good for SK with these young girls.

This 7th grade Shining Stars team should be great. I have heard now that 5 of this teams players are playing for their respective high school team.

She did not get much playing time in the summer league at Sports of All Sorts when we played Shining Stars.

With many of the stronger 7th graders playing high school ball, who is fielding the strongest 7th grade middle school teams this season? Are there many 8th graders playing up? Same question. Who is fielding the strongest 8th grade middle school teams this season?

I think Conner and HHS have the best 7th grade teams, with Conner being even pretty dominant over HHS in their first meeting. With the rest of the move ups, I'm not sure anyone can really challenge Conner. Maybe I'm wrong because I'm not as close to that group as I am the 8th grade.

 

As for 8th grade...not even a doubt who is top in that grade with all the move ups. That goes to HHS. Conner and HHS were dominate over the last two years when all schools had their players. Conner beat HHS 3 out of the 4 meetings, with both teams meeting in the finals each year. Conner moved up their 3 best players and HHS has the same team (no move ups) as they've had the last two years. With the majority of the other schools also moving up their best 8th graders, it has made for a long season for the 8th grade Lady Birds.

Went to watch the Grant County games at Simon Kenton last night. Good outing by all the Simon Kenton teams overall.

 

A good showing by the young Grant County freshman team early in the season. #15 looks strong for them.

 

The 7th grade starters for Simon Kenton freshman team also had a great showing. #15 had 8 points and #32 had at least 22 points or more in the defeat of Grant County.
