So are you saying Wolford needs more time to recruit his type of players? Because typically most high schools deal with what they have.

 

Coach, the reason I said what I did above was in Season #1 for Coach Wolford he had Coach Glaser's troops who were set up (IMO) to be a dominant running attack, which Coach Glaser was known for and very successful with. I think Coach Wolford wanted to instantaneously instill his "more balanced" offense too quickly based upon bringing in the new QB from Memphis and letting him throw it all over the field to less success that was anticipated. Since the first season, I think his offense is improving as he is mixing up the run and pass more now, plus what they are teaching their JV and Frosh players. Also his defense has really clicked this year and is one of the best defensive squads in the state.

dude, you must not have been at a game last Friday. The entire region dealt with crazy weather (even Cincinnati). You can't use one game that for the most part meant nothing as your basis for an argument.

 

X is on the right track. Everybody wants to compare coaches but last I checked T was kicking X's behind. X finally gets a win in the series and folks still aren't satisfied. If it were some Johnny-come-lately, I might get it. But this is your guy, X fans. Your guy came home to coach y'all's team!

 

Didn't Trinity and Moeller play at the same time St. X in the same city? Those two teams combined for almost 500 yards passing (in the same conditions). Plus it meant nothing to Trinity!

I seriously think Will is doing much better this year. It takes a couple of years for the "out with the old and in with the new" to take root. However, I have maintained for a year now that if X had kept Glaser just one more season (last year), that Charles Walker & Co. would have brought the state title to Poplar Level Road. With Glaser there would have been no QB controversy and they would have worn teams down physically (including H, T, & Scott). And while this X team may not win it all this year (though they have to be a top 3 favorite to do so!), they should be in decent shape for years to come.

I agree about last year. They played their best when they started doing more Glaser ball last season. They have done well this year though.

Thinking about Glaser's last two years and Wolford's first two years the biggest draw back for Wolford's teams have been consistency at the QB position. I'm not saying Mattingly and Gahafer didn't have their flaws, but as a fan you were pretty sure what you were going to get from them in '11 and '12. Nagel seemed to be a question mark entering each game and Houk has shown flashes of what he can do, but has struggled agains the top teams on the their schedule.

 

Typically, if the QB plays well the offense is going to look good.
