November 12, 201411 yr NKY does not produce D1 talent? So Hatton and Bolden are not? Holmes has had several D1 kids, HC had a 6'9 D1 kid, SK had a Michael Brock EKU, Justin Doellman (Ryle) Xavier, and Ross Neltner (Highlands) Vandy just to name a few! Brock, Doellman and Neltner were over 10 years ago......
November 12, 201411 yr They barely recruited him. I am sure they probably could have got him, Morrison from SK, Ruthsatz from CovCath and some other NKY kids. Maybe it is time for a new coach that will recruit NKY? From what I have heard their are plenty of seats open at their home games. Get some local kids and people will come watch them play. I've never spoken to him but from what I understood, Hatton has zero desire to stay in the area.
November 12, 201411 yr That's because they're not D1. NKY doesn't produce D1 talent that a D1 program can build around. NKY produces, at best, D1 role players, and those are few and far between. November 13, 201411 yr Hatton wasn't interested. No chance they got Bolden. Ruthsatz is better suited for D2. Even if Doellman and Neltner were coming out today they wouldn't be going to NKU over X and LSU. Not sure about Brock. NKU wasn't D1 when Rico came out of Holmes. Same with Pittman but Pittman wasn't going to NKU if he could have been eligible. Not sure if Campbell was offered by NKU or not. I know they were at many of his games his senior year. NKU can't live off of NKY players. NKU is a D1 school and needs to recruit the best kids they can get to campus regardless of their zip code. Is our next thread going to be about Cal not recruiting "Kentucky boys?"
November 13, 201411 yr There's a reason why Kentucky gets hammered by Indiana every year in the all-star game. This is D1 basketball. There simply aren't enough players in Kentucky to build a D1 team with.
November 13, 201411 yr Author There's a reason why Kentucky gets hammered by Indiana every year in the all-star game. This is D1 basketball. There simply aren't enough players in Kentucky to build a D1 team with. Wow your judging all this by a all-star game?
November 13, 201411 yr Wow your judging all this by a all-star game? No I'm judging this by the 100 or so games I watch each year.
November 13, 201411 yr Author No I'm judging this by the 100 or so games I watch each year. I am pretty sure CovCath beat 10 teams out of state and NewCath beat both the teams they played out of state. Holmes beat 3 out of state teams.
November 13, 201411 yr I am pretty sure CovCath beat 10 teams out of state. Which means what in this debate?
November 13, 201411 yr Author Which means what in this debate? Wireman said Kentucky always loses all-star games. But yet a Kentucky beats out of state teams.
November 13, 201411 yr Author I never said NKY has a bunch of 4 star players and I would rather have 10 role players over some super stars. Have 3 or 4 shooters, 3 kids that can score down low and 3 or 4 kids that handle the ball and you might have a good team.

There aren't Division I players floating all around like you make it seem.
