Great strategy going for two to get to 36 and a running clock early in the game. It will get the team home an hour earlier.

 

In light of the craziness last year I knew it was coming. Why take a chance?

I don't know when the JV D came in, but the JV offense came in I think for the last two drives for WC. Definitely the backup QB in the entire 4th Quarter.

 

And for what it's worth, time expired with Central inside the 10. The running clock didn't give them a chance to get another play off as they'd already used all their timeouts.

Quite a few substitutions in 2nd half. Nice job by the players filling in for the injured. Good running effort by Ehrlage and Kendall. Hoge threw well yet again. WC seemed very uninspired.

Dragon, You and WC will always have this guy as a WC fan. You are a class act and I'll never forget that game last year as the craziest game I've ever seen. Those WC kids were amazing coming back on the Birds like that. Unfortunately, this game ended a little differently, but it was a fun two years keeping an eye on the WC team from NKY! Good luck the rest of the way.

On the subject of the game, just like last year, I find myself in utter awe at the efficiency of the Highlands offense. Central claimed they wanted to run tempo this year but never really have. They run a little fast. Highlands runs like a freaking machine. Play ends, they're on the line. And seemingly every play successful. I understand that Central isn't the greatest team but in both of these years no one has made them look as bad on defense as Highlands has. I though Warren Central's offense ran the ball surprisingly well, just like the Owensboro game. I really don't have a ton of criticism about what Central did offensively though they never scored. They got yards, just didn't finish the drives. Like when you're playing Bowling Green, if you have to drive 80+ yards on Highlands, you're really going to struggle to score. And considering that Central could not stop Highlands, they never got the benefit of good field position. One mistake will end your drive when you have to drive that distance. The first drive it was a snap of the QBs head. The longest drive of the first half came in the second quarter when Central moved from their 6 into the Bluebird red zone. But a chop block moved them back 15 yards and they couldn't recover. Highlands has a strong defense to match their offense. I have very little trouble believing they will win 4A. I had little trouble believing it before tonight either.

Best of luck to you all as well! I don't think you'll need much of it, like I said, I'm in awe of your team and program. I ultimately enjoyed last year more than this one, but I'm still glad the series got played! It was an experience for sure.

I do have to say that there was at least one comment in the update thread that raised my ire. Many of you are upset with Coach Feggins. I get it, I understand it. I'm not going to tell you how to feel or not to express how you feel. He's an adult, he can take it. I think he'd say the same. Just keep it there. There's no reason to denigrate the team over that. I watched the postgame on the field and could tell the players were very friendly and respectful of each other. Highlands is a team and program that has come to be synonymous with class and I believe that extends to their fan base. Live up to that example.

 

Off my soapbox.

I always took coach Feggins' comment as "coach speak" trying to fire up the team, students and fan base. I don't know how many times he saw Jensen play the last two years but he knew what he was up against. I felt sorry for the kid having to choose between his team and his dad. If I was in his position I would have done the same thing.

Very disappointed in the lack of ability by the WC team. I was very impressed with the performance out of Highland driving 3.5 hr jumping off the bus and making a statement.

 

Boy you want to talk about going from playing the men to the boyz as it showed as Highland pushed WC around and did what they wanted with them. If Highland doesn't take their foot off the pedal this is a 70 to nutter
