Ticket Price Rant

To be fair, I don't have to pay to get into wrestling finals. However, Question, how much do these parents put out in a year for their soccer player to do off season stuff, club teams, summer camps and the like? Is the cost really that much to watch your child win a state title?

They weren't playing for a state title tonight. They were playing in a play-in game (No offense Cru - just calling a spade a spade) at home in a facility they own and staffed by their own personel.

Club games and tournaments are free admission.

Do the refs get paid more during these games vs other games? If so how much more? If the school doesn't receive half the money why double the price of a normal game? I read on the KHSAA site that each ticket is accounted for and the school pays for any ticket not returned so that tells me the school must not make very much money on the game.

Here is the info i was told about the prices.

"Let me give you a little bit of information, the Host School and Home team receive $5.00 of the admissions price for their School Soccer Team. $2.50 of the admissions price goes to the Visiting team to pay for their travel expenses. The KHSAA uses the other $2.50 to pay for the officials, security and other expenses that come with running a State Championship. Thank you for your input and I will report it to the people who make these decisions."

That seem like a fairly reasonable justification for the price. Some of these teams go a long way to get where they play. Refs as well. I can't really think of anywhere else the KHSAA gets revenue off the top of my head.

Thats it, thats not too bad at all.

$10 for any High School sporting event is too much

But you guys will give Mr. Gamble $12.00 to see a football game?

No!!

While we're on the topic of ticket prices... Every game I've been to this year has been $5 to get in except NCC was $6. How do they get off charging more than other schools? I paid more to stand on a field down by the river with no facilities (restrooms) than I do at Ryle who has a really nice complex.

I think the extra $1 is to cover the cost of the bathrooms.... oh wait, I meant to say Port-O-Potty.

I wonder how it changes for the next round......both teams have to travel ......

I know we travel and I'm sure most teams travel during the season. Do they not get money for that?

Not me. If I'm not doing chains then I would get the discount ticket through the school from a student.

So if 300 people show up the visiting team gets 300 x 2.50? That seems like an awful lot for some teams to receive. For example, some teams do not even take buses for the first round of the playoffs.
