Charles Barkley 'Unintellligent' blacks 'Brainwashed'

Featured Replies

I think it was Alabama.

I couldn't remember if it was Alabama or Arizona.

Lots of reasons. Mostly because of socioeconomic reasons.

It just seems odd, blacks or not. It seems to be an attitude that would keep the socioeconomic group from ever being able to prosper.

Probably so. If Herman Cain or Ben Carson had said the same thing, I think there would have been some controversy.

Possibly. In order to make the statement that Barkley made without criticism you must be accepted by black people. Those two fellas aren't accepted by the black community.

That could be a factor.

That's just more of the division. I know it's different when you're white or so I hear. But the whole black community concept is just perplexing to me. It just seems like more separation that is not necessary. But I know that's just how it is.

Do you think it is more common with black people or about the same with other groups which also put down those successful in their group?

I can't speak for a whole lot of other groups, but I feel like it is a pretty well known fact among that black community that if you are successful, black people are hating on you...

Sad and true.

That's exactly what it is.

I don't disagree. Being able to relate goes a long way and those two guys haven't shown an ability to relate with the black community. They don't have to agree with everything. Just relate. That's why Obama is still loved in the black community. Right or wrong he'll go to Michael Brown's family's home and offer his condolences. That's a strong message to the black community. Privately he could think something entirely different but being able to relate wins him tons of points in the black community. If Herman Cain or Ben Carson was concerned about reaching the black community then they should go to Ferguson and get arrested with the protestors and I guarantee their street cred will skyrocket and their message would be heard and accepted by the black community and they could spawn young black republicans.

It sounds stupid and silly but that's the truth. It's just the way it is.
