The family and I are going to spend Saturday there, leaving sometime Sunday. Who here has been and what should I expect? The online reviews seem to be pretty good, but I'm curious to hear experiences from BGP'ers.

It's really cool but expensive which you already know. I don't know how old your kids are but they push this MagicQuest game pretty hard and it's really expensive as well. We had a good time at the water park, the onsite food wasn't too badly priced but you have plenty of nearby dining options/pizza places. Overall it's a cool place but I seem to remember being more than a little disappointed with the hours of water park being much to short.

We love it and go every year.

 

The on-site pizza (there is a family dinner option of a large pizza, some salad, breadsticks, a 2-liter and some cookies) is really good!! The bakery has great breakfast items as well. Since you have to have an overnight stay, we typically get there about 3:00 PM, swim for about 3 hours, eat, then my son and I go back without the girls until it closes (9:00 PM maybe?). We do the MagicQuest game as was mentioned, which keeps us running the halls until about 11:00 PM. We get breakfast the next morning, hit the pool when it opens at 9:00 AM, and swim until about Noon. The rides are fun, the employees are very nice, and the facility is well managed.

 

I'd 100% recommend it.

Love waterparks. Lots of fun. GWL is a grand destination for making some nice family memories.

But if you have more than 2 kids, be prepared to spend a whole lot more on accommodations. (Which is why the hoops5 family has only been there once. :lol2:)

Thanks guys, sounds like it should be a fun time. The kids are 12, 10, and 3, so it sounds like there is something for all of them. We will probably stick with the lodge food Saturday and Sunday morning, but may eat dinner somewhere nearby on our way home. Any suggestions on nearby restaurants? We are pretty familiar with the downtown cinci and nky restaurants (wife used to be a sou chef at Morton's) but I have no idea what's in the area near the lodge. Thanks again.

Chipotle, Jimmy Johns, DQ, Taco Bell, Wendy's and Ruby Tuesday's are just up the road. The high end food is over off Fields Ertel 10 mins away. Wear your I hate OSU gear and if I see you lost, I'll send you further in the wrong direction lol.

Yeah the accommodations were expensive, but that part is over now lol. I was just curious if it was as nice as it sounds, since it is pricey. Also I had to give up going to the UK - Miss St game to go, but its for the kids so I'm ok with that. Sounds like a great time though.

You will be fine, several of the normal fast food places are 2 mins away. Gas is stable at around 2.99-3.05 in the area, at least for now.

 

KI will be a zoo in the evening on the main strip right there, due to Halloween Haunt but that's not till around 9pm. Just stay in the outside lane.

Without a doubt you will have a great time.

Went there a couple years ago for my daughter's birthday. The kids loved it. I hate crowds, so I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as everything had a long line and you could barely move around in the wave pool. If I recall, it was cold in there too. We ate dinner in their restaurant, and I thought the food was good.

Cheaper option is Coco Key but bed bugs come with that more economical approach.
