2A State Champion Predictions

Featured Replies

Who do you think will win the 2A State Championship and why?

I would lean toward either DeSales or Caldwell County.

Caldwell had all of the publicity last year but for some reason have been under the radar somewhat, I think they have a legit shot in that they can score and score and score.

I think Desales repeats because they are a complete program right now. They have played a good schedule for a 2a school and they have solid performances in all 3 phases, O,D,ST plus they have a bit of physicality and a smart staff.

My prediction: whoever comes out of the West (most likely DeSales)

Lets re-visit this after tonights 2A games. There are few good ones.

DeSales with a nice little cushion against the Winner of the Danville/Pburg Regional Final.

I will say for snots and gargles:

DeSales 34

Pburg 14

I'll go with Caldwell Co.. Sindelar is the most complete QB in the state, throw in 2 stud RBs and a couple of big time receiving targets and a solid OL and these guys are going to score on anyone.. While there D isn't as good as there O and several teams have better defenses than theres, they do have experience on that side of the ball and have capable players that can step up when they need too.. Teams like Murray, who play possession offense behind a strong Ol are the type team that could possibly slow them down, but, teams that try to match them or outscore them won't fare as well.. As good as CAL and Desales defenses are, they're also the type of team that'll try and score quickly and outscore them and if they do, they'll be in trouble.. Of course, the typical game changers could affect things, like turnovers, penalties, weather conditions, etc, but, if all things equal, I think Caldwell has the team to beat..

I am starting to get sneaky feeling that the championship game could look a lot like last year' game.

I think DeSales is the best team in 2A.

I think if Caldwell can get to the championship game and gets good weather to play it in, then they have the capability to beat DeSales simply on their offensive ability.

Beyond that, I don't think anyone else is is in the conversation.

They would play before the finals as both are in the west

...whoops...in that case, if the game has perfect weather conditions, then Caldwell has a chance, if it's cold, rainy, sorta wet, cloudy, chance of showers, light breeze, too much sun, grass too green...then DeSales is going to roll this year.

It can be "either" Caldwell or DeSales in the final, not both.

I think Desales will repeat. The bigger question to me is who will they play?
