What would you change?

Well, we'll really see how good Owensboro is this week. Open week can really send a team into a tailspin!

Just ask the Bengals.

Seriously, what do you think?

As much as I hate to say it, I'm not sure CC is a top 10 team...right now. Its kind of weird to say it, but I'm kinda watching the game against Harrison Co. Not that CC will lose, but can they start to put it back together?

However, I'm on the side of "Cov Cath can still turn their season around and they still worry this HHS fan come playoff time" I know they have the talent and I'm not sure what happened in the HHS game, but if they get healthy and get their heads right, they could still make a run. Unfortunately (because of playoff structure), none of what they are going through right now really means anything at all. If they get their heads right and they get healthy, they still worry me. I'm also in the belief that 4A is fairly weak this year. So once you get passed the HHS and Owensboro, I think you can pick out of a hat. That's by no means saying one of those others could not beat either of those teams, but it would take a great effort.

Flip flop Owensboro and Highlands or at least make the tied for 1st.

Do the same with Franklin Simpson and Knox Central.

Get rid of Covington Catholic and insert N. Oldham at 10.

I'd have CovCath as #10 at best following the three game slide, and that's only because no one else in 4A has really stepped up. They should have no problem against Harrison County and Holmes, but could easily end the regular season at 5-5 with a loss to Conner. Then again, they could get healthy and be the team that teams outside of NKY hate to see come playoff time. #10, but holding on by their fingertips.

Sincere question...what happened to Collins? Injuries? I thought they still had something in the tank coming back for the next few years.

Just like Kentucky basketball players... One and Done. Or should I say 1 year/ trick pony.

Collins is ok. Have played a very powerful non conference schedule including two undefeated 6A teams. Could have a better record playing more 4A or 3A schools BUT rather play the good ones to get better plus still has Anderson Co. on the road at the end of the season. Have done the same thing in the past and hasn't always turned out with a W but have always made them ready for a playoff run. Might only end up regional finalist this year or semi's. Return trip to BG will be hard to do BUT again, anything possible still with this very young group. But you can take this to the bank, they will be back in BG 2 or 3 times in the next 4 years.

They have taken a step back this year playing a tough schedule with a young and inexperienced team. However, it won't take them long to get back to where they have been the past couple of years and really it could be as soon as next year. Anyone who thinks Collins is one and done is sadly mistaken.

I was really just curious. I think it was you telling us about the makeup and the split in Shelby Co. and I thought you mentioned they would be contenders for awhile. I was just curious how they don't crack the top 10 in a down year in 4A. Not knocking them at all...all HS sports are dependent on "the next class"...just curious where they went!

Yeah they haven't done as well as I expected them to this year, but maybe I just underestimated how good the previous senior class was. In their defense, while it is a down year for 4A, Collins doesn't really play any other 4A teams and the teams they have lost to are a combined 24-5. That being said I don't think they deserve a Top 10 spot at this point. Who knows, maybe they can still make a playoff run, especially since Region 2 is very weak.

I think after this year you will see Collins back as contenders nearly every year. This year's senior class isn't all that strong, but the junior and freshman classes are loaded with talent, especially the freshman class. They are very similar to the class that just graduated from Collins. Hopefully they will end up with the same results!

And by the way, I didn't mean to accuse you of suggesting the Titans are one and done, I was referring to a comment by another poster.

I think sometimes we forget that Collins is just in their 5th year as a school and is still building their football program. This is the first time they have had a "down year" as their "worst" season ended in an 11-2 record. 4A will also seemingly get easier next year with the absence of Highlands, Covington Catholic, Boyle County, etc so even if this year doesn't end well they should still have no reason to worry about the future. Personally I will miss the annual meeting with Highlands in Bowling Green though!
