I'm sorry, my post was inaccurate. It was $300-$400 more expensive at the store.

Well, yesterday one of our TVs blew.l, it was 9 years old though.

 

Decided to replace that one with a 60". Not sure which one I'll get but it's down to three.

I did. This was by far the most I ever spent on a TV. A couple of hundred more to insure seemed reasonable

Without looking it up, I'm pretty sure this is the TV I purchased. I went ahead and got the extended warranty/two-year deal with the geek squad through Best Buy.

I didn't when we first bought ours but after having to return it after 15 days I did purchase a 2 year warranty.

Samsung makes great tv's these days. Not a lot of people realize it but Sharp is also top of the line in picture quality now. Pioneers Kuro line was tops among home theater critics years ago. Pioneer got out of the business but Sharp is now making essentially the same tv as the Kuro.

 

I have a 65" Mitsubishi DLP, which has a great picture, but since consumers want thin tv's, dlp technology for the average consumer is pretty much dead. I've stocked up on replacement bulbs which will hold me over for a while. But once the color wheel or something else goes bad ill be looking at Samsung or Sharp.

 

One thing I will say though, is that you may want to have it professionally calibrated, or do it yourself if you can. When you look at tv's in big box stores generally the settings are maxed out to grab your attention for one, the openness and bright lighting of the store is another reason. You don't need the settings maxed out for home use, in fact you will get a more natural picture if it is calibrated correctly.

I would have bought a sharp instead of our Samsung but the price difference was too much to justify the difference. But they make some awesome TVs.

I decided to just pick the tv up myself yesterday, and spent all night trying to figure some things out. If they can't be fixed I won't be happy and will just trade it in for one of the other two.

 

First, I can't seem to get a full or stretched video. It's not that there is blank screen on the top or bottom, but 4 inches blank on each side and about there inches blank on the top and bottom, so the video can be larger without changing the ratio.

 

I can't seem to get my laptop to send wirelessly.

 

Also, in NKY does Time Warner have different channel lineups? It's odd, all the channels are there, it's just that they are not where I'm used to, and not where they are on the other TV's. The other TV's hooked up to Time Warner ate DVR's, this one I got yesterday is not a DVR, I had to get it as the old tv had a cable card and we couldn't use it on this new tv.

1. You should have a button your remote that says P. SIZE. Push that until you get the screen fit you want. 16:9 is what you want when watching most channels but if you are watching a regular DVD or even non HG on demand movie you will have to hit the button a few times to find the best setting.

 

2. I would assume your laptop only has a wireless receiver and not transmitter. If you want to stream movies through say netflix your tv should connect to the internet through your wireless router.

 

3. When you hook the cable directly to your TV the channels are all different. They are all dash numbers, like 35-36 or something like that. If you go to Time Warners website (link below, hope it works) they have a list.

Edit: I tried the link after posting. It worked however you need to make sure the location is correct. What comes up is the regular listing (if used DVR or digital box). Under location there will be a link to open a pdf of channel listing if not using a box.
