They'll be solid this year, probably a winning record. Unfortunately I think their district is a bear. There have been several times the last five years or so where they were the number six or seven team in the region, but simon and Walton were in their district. They went to the region two years ago and I would love to see them return. Their coaching staff is good and hopefully they can make some noise.

Martin did transfer to NDA, she has lots of potential but obviously wasn't a good fit at GC. Coach West will have his team prepared for the season. Starters will be competitive but lots of inexperience from the bench. I agree with PP1 that with SK, and Walton in the district its tough to come out on top. But its high school girls basketball and it can happen

You guys are pretty much right on..It's hard playing in a district with arguably 2 of the top 4 to 5 teams in the region. Last season Grant really didn't compete with SK..but they played 2 tight games with WV during the season and take away 1 QTR of the district game played them tight in that game as well. I think the sleeper factor here is experience.. The current sophomore and junior classes have played a lot more varsity minutes than people think. The reason was the lack of upperclassmen the last few yrs . Also keep an eye on #22 for Grant.. expect them to split season games with WV and would not be surprised if they upset SK . Once the districts start who knows..

The scores from last year with GC and WV were. 74 - 28 loss at GC and 51-26 loss at WV.

Losses to SK. 71-25 @ SK and 62-36 @ GC

The games with WV were 58-54 AND 61-52 during the regular season. .might want to get your facts right before you correct.. just saying...

If we are going to talk in facts.... Let's make sure you remember that WV beat Grant last year without two starters as well as having their starting point guard wearing a mask because of a broken nose....just saying.

I'm not arguing anything- just that the guys scores were wrong. That's all I said ...why is it you can't post anything on here without somebody getting so defensive? And why are you on the Grant Co. Stream talking about Walton? I didn't go on the WV stream and make excuses for Grant.. but now that you have .. I guess what you posted was true for all 3 games last season? I only remember Luebbe being out for all 3 and the others in the district game..Also remember what the freshman team did to WV last season...

The same reason you can't make a mistake without someone getting defensive and being a smart (donkey)....see example below.

C'mon man! It's the old pot calling the kettle black.

Anyway...The other missing player/starter that weakside referenced was Beckham. She was also out with a knee injury.

How many freshmen played on Grants freshmen team last year? How many 7th, 8th graders? I know at Walton last year, due to injuries on the varsity, there was girls moved up to fill holes and add depth on varsity and jv. As girls moved up, the last one in line was the freshmen team. Sometimes in the season, the freshmen team was left pretty thin, and mostly 8th graders.

Whatever man I didn't post to have an argument. .anyway to answer your question, there were 4 freshman, 2 8th graders, 2 7th graders, and a 6th grader . One of the freshman played maybe a minute a game, and was already cut this year, and 2 of the frosh and 1 of the 8th graders saw very limited play time because they were needed for JV, and the 8th grader started Varsity from the 5th game of the season on. Believe me I am not bashing WV.. I think coach C is a great coach..we personally know a few of the girls on the team and think the world of them and their parents. We gave our daughter the option of going to WV.. I just think they will be able to compete with WV for the next few yrs. I think the unknown for this year is what Zoe L contributes coming off the injury. Both teams I think will struggle to find a point guard that consistently get the ball up the floor.

For clarity sake, I did not think you were bashing WV. Not at all.

I only thought it was ironic that you were questioning why so many seem to make defensive, over reacting post right after you had done the same. It's all good though...I can be guilty of defensive post also sometimes.

Thanks for the answer on the Grant freshmen team.

And what are you doing mentioning Coach C and Zoe Luebbe....this is a Grant thread! :D (Please know, that was humor.)

Sorry but I was on the year before in KHSAA.org. Please accept my deepest apologies!

Sorry to ruffle your feathers!
