Newport 55 Bishop Brossart 0

Tough outing for the Mustangs tonight. Newport dominant in all phases, as indicated by the final score.

Newport has to clean up their penchant for penalties. I'd hate to know the score if they hadn't had many big plays called back.

Mustangs shot themselves in the foot over and again as well. Not a pretty game.

Yeah, that must've been rough for BBHS. Doesn't Newport have a stud RB? No injuries for BBHS, I hope.

Dominick Joseph, a 6', 220 pound senior is their workhorse running back.

Newport kept it pretty simple tonight. Quarterback Paul Price, who normally likes to tuck it and run, simply served as a handoff and pass catylist. NCC scouts were in the house to check out the Wildcats, and I'm sure weren't shown much.

Joseph scored the very first Wildcats touchdown on a two-yard plunge.

Brian Burton had the big night, returning a Brossart punt 90 yards for a TD

Burton scored again on a 25 yard pass completion for their third TD.

Price completed yet another TD pass to Burton giving the Cats a 28-0 lead.

Taylen Spicer intercepted a Garrett Ahlbrand pass and returned it 22 yards for the final score of the first half.

Tyree Bolden returned the opening kickoff of the second half 85 yards for a Newport score and sent the game to the running clock.

Dominick Joseph scored again at the 6:30 mark of the 3rd quarter making it 49-0 Wildcats lead, and David Lynam ran 69 yards for the Cats' final score of the night.

Kicker Taylen Spicer was successful on the first seven of his eight PAT attempts. The eighth was blocked by the Brossart line.

Congrats to Newport and my adopted Lion son's Dominick and his brother Demetri by the way congrats on being name Home Coming King last week Dominick. Demetri, I hope you are paving the way for Dominick to get in the end zone. Hope to see you both real soon. Keep up the good work I am very proud of both of you. And again Congrats to Newport players and coaches. JD

The qb from newport messed up his ankle last week that's why he wasn't going to run vs Brossart sore ankle and no need to use him much vs a weak team. Newport has pretty good size and speed. Several real athletic kids.

I'll say it again, 21 point dog next week.

I'd make the spread slightly closer, but I get where you are coming from. The Lloyd/Newport game for the 2 seed in this district should be a whale of a game.

We will see come friday.

I think newport problem is coaching. I will have the final closer to 14 than 21
