If Beechwood wants to show they're a serious title contender in 1a, they need to be competitive in this game. Not necc win, but, at least play within a 7-14 points, especially with the way CC has played the last 3 weeks, which hasn't been that good..

I'm sorry, although BW has won this game in the past especially through the 90s, they are still playing up 3 classes and next ye this game they will be playing up 4 classes. It's just silly to think they have to either win or hang close in a game they are playing up 3 classes to be a serious contender in the smallest class in the state.

 

That would be like someone saying the same about NCC if they played BG.

 

It's nice coach speak but in reality it is just that, a conversation piece that means nothing in the real

Beechwood has the talent to keep it close. I just think CovCath wins by a couple touchdowns do to their depth and Beechwood getting worn down.

If Beechwood wins this game then they are the favorites in 1A at this point.

I think a lot depends on where Cov Cath's "psyche" is. Can they recover emotionally from a crushing loss to a rival that was expected to be vulnerable? On paper, CC wins big. But they are not playing on paper.

My point is, alot of folks are proclaiming that they should be higher in the 1a rankings. If they want to move up, they'll need to be competitive. A 20-30 point blowout isn't going to get it done.

Mayfield plays "up" all the time and wins many times. I'm not saying BW has to win this game but they need to be competitive in my eyes to be a legit contender at this point. I don't believe it's progress for a team to not only lose but not be competitive in these types of games. BW seems to only win the games that they are supposed to win these days.

What I'm saying is it is silly to say a 1A team has to beat or keep close to what many think may be the 2nd best 4A team in the state year in and year out.

 

BW plays up also like Mayfield so why is this the game that they have to win or come close? Does Mayfield play BG or Trinity or Highlands?

This is a bad week for Beechwood to have to play Cov Cath. I am sure Cov. Cath is looking to bounce back and prove the Highlands game wasn't the real Colonels (Blue). 49 to 14 Cov. Cath.

I don't think it's silly for one of the top teams in 1A to be competitive with CC for at least some time in the 3rd quarter. BW doesn't have to win this game but it's seems a lot of fans make excuses for BW these days . Mayfield has played 5 teams in upper classes this season. McCracken is rated a top team in 6A, whom we took to over time plus we play Caldwell who is ranked as the top team in 2A by some. IN my honest opinion I believe Mayfield could come up there and give CC all they wanted, maybe not win but be competitive.

Mayfield isn't doing anything BW doesn't do. That is my point. It's 1A, they really don't have much of a choice but to play up.

Maybe not but who said they could anyway? Also no one claimed its better football up here. We were simy pointing out Mayfield doesn't do anything different than BE does. They both play up out of district. Which someone stated wasn't true for BW and they are wrong.

It's an insinuation . Beechwood should be competitive in my opinion with Covington Catholic if they are in the running for the 1A title.
