NKU 2014-15 Schedule

Featured Replies

Not many teams in the country have a game with a Big 12 team followed up by a UC-Clermont type team.

:idunno: Curious as to the issue here.....I am pretty neutral on Coach Bezold.....Not a fan but not really sure he is bad either.

He is the David Elson of NKU.

They can do better....and will.

I know how they could open the pipeline to Indiana recruiting...

I would expect when the time comes he'll certainly be near the top of the last. By when the time comes I mean about 4/1/15.

Not like he's allowed to leave the area... :lol2:

At least not with the progeny.

Sound like anyone else we know? :bunny:

The trips to the NW make no sense at all. Expanding that recruiting base isn't the answer. The guarantees from EWU and Idaho would be minimal compared to what you could get from the much larger programs east of the Mississippi. Why the unnecessary travel expense of 5 days in the NW over Thanksgiving? Think of the monies the kids' families are going to have to shell out to make that trip. Seems really, really odd.

Honestly, I would have expected a much better structured schedule this year than this, but then again, given the Head Coach and the transition at the top, I probably shouldn't have.

Might have been the only way to get a team to come into the BOK. It can't be easy to get anyone to travel here. Or to Idaho. Maybe the swing out West is in exchange for a home date with Idaho this year and maybe E.Wash next year.

Hogwash -- if these are part of home and homes, and they aren't getting guarantees, it is way dumber. Unnecessary expense, for both the school, as well as the families. Silliness.

Count the D1 teams within a 4 hour bus ride....hard to get people to travel here? Was that a joke?

Pray tell whom is beating down the door to the BOK center just happy to get NKU on the schedule?

They should be playing games in major markets in this region to drive exposure. As for home games, they would have no issue driving home-and-homes with schools from about 10 leagues in the eastern and central time zone.

They are actually in a great place to get low D1 teams to come visit, because they get those programs exposure into a major market. Many would love a pay-day with UC / Xavier / Miami, but those are selective about who they scratch checks to and play. NKU is an option for the rest to get exposure in Cincy area.

I know a thing or two about building a D1 schedule, and unless there is a particular reason to head to the NW for two crappy games, for 5 days, over Thanksgiving, it is an unnecessary expense (and peculiar). Do they have a kid from the area that deserves a break? Do they have a large donor / donor base in the area (highly unlikely).

Is NKU still considered a non-D1 school schedule-wise because they are in the transition period? If so, teams are limited to 4 such games.

That shouldn't best factor for them, there are 340+ schools to choose from, the vast majority from this half of the country.

The move is odd, period, so much so there has to be a reason for it. I'm glad their guarantee money is burning a hole in their pockets, but it is an unnecessary expense for the department. That trip is going to cost them a minimum of $20,000 -- just silly. Again, there has to be a reason (I hope).
