Obviously, losing him hurts, but the only one that would be devastating would be Dalton. Campbell is serviceable, but he is a back up for a reason. Thus, that is "G's" concern in other threads. They will still be a very good defense without Burfict, just not as good.

Im with hellbird on this. I believe losing Burfict for an extended period would very much hurt this team and probably as close as much as it would hurt to lose Dalton. This defense would struggle against the run, and could possibly make the bengals get out of their nickel defense they run so well. This defense has shown when they cant stop the run like in the playoffs that it will struggle. It then would open up the passing game too. The Titans are a bad offense, the defense without him would start to struggle more and more imo.

He makes the difference against the rush. If he is not eating up two guys then Burfict can be blocked or chipped.

I would really like to hear Atkins' name called more in sacks and tackles. I miss him being 100%.

They missed Geno for basically half the season last year and still was good against the run and the pass and finished in the top 3 in defense still. Without Burfict for an extended period of time, we will see this defense become much more vulnerable. The Bengals proved last year that they can still be a top defense without Geno up until that playoff game.

 

I have confidence because Campbell was playing the best ball of his career under Jackson before he got hurt, and that was without as much talent around him as he has here. I don't let his preseason performance change that.
