Another running clock for the young Pioneers. Looks like JV should get some snaps in the 4th.

I know, probably not, but damn it sounds good.

Cooper after NewCath. This is supose to be a down year for SK. :D

Exactly....and that's why you have a down year schedule....

Actually, all of these teams were good when the schedule was made in 2012.

Just throwing a bone out there for UK fan......Campbell an Dixie will tell us a lot about SK...don't think NCC has the horses this year to keep this one close.

This will be SK's 3rd toughest game of the yr on schedule imo...

Collins / Campbell Cty / NewCath in that order...

I would like to think that SK will have their way with NewCath much like they did against Holy Cross:thumb:

You have to put Dixie in there sweep.

You have to put Dixie in there sweep.

Forgot about the Red Colonels...You are correct, got to let them shar the spot with Campbell Cty High School

You have to put Dixie in there sweep.

And Cooper.

How many 6a opponents do the pioneers play?

Like always...only the ones they have to play. Pretty funny!

Simon Kenton Pioneers travel to Newport on Friday night to take on the Breds in what looks like, record wise, a miss match. Do the pioneers put up a Holy Cross type score on the Breds, can the Breds keep things close like the Campbell Co. game, or can the Breds pull off the upset?

In the history of the "little school" vs. "big school" tilt, the smaller Breds own a 10-4 record over Simon Kenton, with the Pioneers winning the last 3 out of 4.

1975 NewCath 14-0

1976 NewCath 40-7

1977 NewCath 23-7

1978 NewCath 35-13

1979 Simon Kenton 8-7

1980 NewCath 20-0

1981 NewCath 2-0

1982 NewCath 14-6

Pretty sure these two were both 3A in these years. I know they were in 79 and 80. Both had good teams in those years.

How many 6a opponents do the pioneers play?

Aug 22, 14 Collins 4A

Aug 29, 14 Holy Cross (Covington) 2A

Sep 05, 14 Conner 5A

Sep 12, 14 Newport Central Catholic 2A

Sep 19, 14 Cooper 5A

Sep 26, 14 Ryle 6A

Oct 03, 14 Campbell County 6A

Oct 10, 14 Boone County 6A

Oct 17, 14 Dixie Heights 6A

Oct 24, 14 Bullitt Central 5A

Like always...only the ones they have to play. Pretty funny!

Actually, Cooper and Connor are 6A next year and Bullit Central is 5A. So 7 out of 10 schools are big schools. Collins is defending 4A champs and NCC, most years. is very competitive with larger schools. HC is really the only bad date. The preference for local opponents is financially motivated as the school district does not finance travel. HHS and Cov Cath will both be on the schedule when the new cycle begins next year.

NCC has one of the hardest schedules for a small school and all this does is show the heart of NCC playing these schools they know will blow them out but what I like is this only makes them stronger and people wonder why they make it to play offs.. this is why every year a big schedule and the heart carries them through. I love this cause the haters of NCC fail to realize this is all just a stepping stones we don't need these wins but we do need to play teams this tuff to get more experience and tougher... so laugh on b/c we will be in playoffs this year again.. last laugh is much harder..

=Peyton;5166163]Don't get to carried away. Not to say SK won't win, but in all honesty have they been challenged yet? NCC will get challenged the next couple weeks but my guess they will make in further in the playoffs than SK. Enjoy the wins now they get tougher to win as the season unfolds
