Some folks on here give way too much credit for what class a teams in.. Losing to the best 2a team in the state at there place says nothing about what a team will do come playoff time.. There's no difference in this game then there was in the 6a HClay/3a Belfry game.. Every week, there are 1a, 2a and 3a teams kicking the snot out of 4a, 5a and 6a teams. And some of those 4a, 5a and 6a teams will make decent runs in the playoffs..

 

I somewhat agree but the thing is that there is noise coming from the Warren Central part of town that they are indeed the real deal now. If they are indeed the real deal then they shouldn't have any problems with DeSales.

I disagree. I think Desales would be a top 4-5 team in 5a. Outside of BG, that class is pretty weak. Plus, I would bet that Desales dresses more players than WC does. What you actually have is a school in 2a with close to 3a numbers and a 5a team with 4a numbers. Throw in the private factor and the population factor and you have very little difference. This is similar to the Caldwell vs Christian game. How in the world did that 2a team score nearly 80 points against that 5a team. Now Christian likely isn't the team WC is, but, Caldwell probably isn't the team Desales is either.

A. Christian Co. is pretty bad this year on defense so I wouldn't put to much stock in Caldwell's performance against them.

 

B. I don't believe DeSales could beat any of the top 5 in class 5A this year.

 

C. You can't just base your ideas on how DeSales would do against larger school teams based on last year. Last year was a super special State Championship year for DeSales...do a little homework and look at the previous 4-5 years against traditional larger schools that are football schools...not a lot of wins there to speak of.

 

D. Saying that WC should handle DeSales this year after all they lost as a 2A school is just logical. App. State might catch a bad Michigan team with their best team and rock out against them, but overall, in the long run of things, Michigan is going to beat App State 95% of the time...and I'm going to hear it for this, but I'll say the Warren Central would beat DeSales at least 80% of the time if they played every year.

 

E. And the irony of my man Doubletake liking a post about a "smaller" school playing up against "lager" class schools is almost too much for me.

Point blank if Warren Central doesn't beat Desales tonight they WILL NOT win 5a. You can rationalize it all you want. They have been talking state title since spring. Tonight is a litmus test. I believe they will win and keep the question alive for now.

Correct, BUT, a LEGIT 5A title contender should not only win against a 2A school, they should win by 2 TDs. 1A and 2A schools can and do beat GOOD 5A schools. It is the state champ level team that they shouldn't touch. I agree w/ East Raider here.

Hurt my feelings? Hardly. lol All this talk about Warren Central in 5A, so I gave my opinion who I think will win it. What exactly has Warren Central exactly done to make them a 5A contender anyway? If they win tonight, they can be in the discussion. IMO though it's a 2 horse race with the Maroons, and Purples. Warren Central might win tonight.
