Tubby's Best Friend Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Should Rowan Co. and Fairview win tomorrow night, all 4 Semi-Finalists in the 16th Region Tournament will have been participants in the Raceland Derby Classic Tournament over Christmas. Maybe that hardened these teams for the Post-Season.
duck1220 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 But, if Russell should win, would it be because they are looking forward to playing in next year's Classic?

Statmaster Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Elliott beat Raceland for championship 56-51. Rose Hill was in it this year.
Tubby's Best Friend Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 Who won that tournament and if it happens will you make sure Rose Hill gets invited next year? :D Rose Hill, I believe chose to play elsewhere next season.
oldrambler Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I would like to see some out of area teams that the fans usually don't get to see over the course of the season in the tournament.
Rickyp Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Rose Hill' date=' I believe chose to play elsewhere next season.[/quote'] That is correct. Rose Hill really enjoyed and appreciated the experience this year. They had already commited to the King of the Bluegrass for next year. The Raceland tournament was well ran and I hope we get to come back sometime in the future.
BogeyMan Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 The Raceland tournament was well run and organized. It also featured some top notch competition from our region as evidenced by those advancing to the regional.

Tubby's Best Friend Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 The field for next seasons Derby Classic is set. Raceland Russell West Carter Fairview Green Co. Richmond Model Warren East Boone County Should be a fun event.
Blue Blazer Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 This is a good field! 4 teams from the 16th, and 4 teams from all over the STATE! This should be a great 4 days of basketball!!!
Tubby's Best Friend Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Your Welcome oldrambler. Not sure how long you have followed BGP, but I always refer to the basketball version of Raceland as Ramblers. I love the Rambler nickname, the original. History is so important, I wish todays young people had a better appreciation for it. I saw where Boone Co. ended the regular season with a win over the 9th Regions winningest team in Highlands.
WVA Boy Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Looks like a good field for some good games in the "Flagella Forum"!!
OhioU Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 TBF....I'm glad someone appreciates that name/tradition....I'm with you,.,,Raceland is the Ramblers.
