Do I have to draft a backup QB and a kicker? Am I allowed to draft whomever and shore up my roster before the season starts and after the waiver wire is open?

I don't think you have to draft them. Just have to have them for your starting lineup week 1. But might need the final answer from the commish.

 

If I remember right I didn't draft a backup QB last year.

All you need at the end of the draft is a starting lineup, if you don't want to draft your backups you don't have to. I have 1 PK and D/ST and that's all I'm drafting.
