August 8, 201412 yr Is Under Armour as popular with kids in basketball as it is in Football? I know when my son was playing everyone wanted Under Armour Football Gear because it was new and cool. Is it like that in Basketball too? Don't think it's like that, at least not now. Under Armour may be making strides, but their cash cow is probably still going to be your stretch fit gear for heat/cold, etc. Even for the type of "under" things that players wear under their uniforms, you'll see more guys wearing the Nike Elite socks, Nike Pro Combat compression shorts, all that. I would think that in terms of basketball merchandising alone, Under Armour is still probably trailing just the Jordan Brand itself and still has a way to go before passing Reebok and possibly even Adidas. Of those mentioned, I would guess that the gap with Adidas is closest to closing, if it hasn't already. Right now, the only NBA players listed as being affiliated with UA are: Steph Curry, Brandon Jennings, Kemba Walker, Greivis Vasquez, and Raymond Felton (who is probably on thin ice). To say that Durant would be a game changer for them is an understatement.

September 1, 201412 yr Kinda makes you wonder when you buy Nike or AU or Addidas shoes, how much of what you are paying is sponsorship? Similar to golf equipment. I guess that is no different than liquors where the bottle often costs more than the contents inside it. Most of the cost of that stuff is taxes and marketing.
