This young man is just starting his sophomore year in high school. Probably a little too early to know for CERTAIN whether he will or won't play D1. If not, there are plenty of other great, high quality opportunities to play basketball besides D1. I realize that a forum such as this is to present opinions and views, but just like in society, it doesn't hurt to use a little discretion, especially when speaking of kids. There may or may not come a time in this young man's career that the appropriate person may need to discuss whether D1 is a good fit or not, but this is definitely not the time or place to put a definite "no" on it.

Best of luck to the young man!

Oh well, I'm done for now. Time to go fishin' with Pa. :lol2:

Agreed! Well said and I enjoyed watching him!! Wishing him a great year.

What's the school record and who is the holder? Has he surpassed his brothers career totals?

According to school website its Eddie Hopkins 73-76 with 1650 pts.

Austin had 267 pts as 8th grader and 699 last year as 9th grader.

Said his brother Grant finished with 562 pts.

Over half way there with 3 years to go should be no problem. Good luck to Austin and the Polar Bears!

Theres nothing wrong with being an alltime great high school player but not being division 1.

Do you have a link? Thanks.

Excellent post.

I first saw the young man as an eighth grader who looked to me like he had the basketball savvy of an upperclassman. Papa's old crystal ball sees many good things in the future.

Go to the BCHS website under boys basketball then go to history.

What did you see the first time you saw me drive a ball on hole 1 at Kenton Station?

McPapa, I put that one on a tee for you, so to speak. Thought you would say I saw a future for you in worm burning or looking for golf balls in the wrong fairway :lol2:

Look closely, and you will see a subtle but significant difference between my comments re. young Mr. Crawford and young Mr. All In.

Crawford will no doubt be the all-time scoring leader at Bracken, he is already number 26 in scoring with 966 points, and he still has three years left! Also, the fact that he did not play JV last year helped further improve his supporting cast. Hamilton is someone else they can rely on in the 4th quarter, unlike last year where everybody had to rely on a freshman to do all the work. Hamilton can also get down the floor well and can finish at the rim. Jones has good footwork and a variety of moves under the basket and will be a key role player. Biddle will be a main rebounder for the Bears this year, with leaping ability and size that the team lacks. Todd is the same way but does not have a much of an offensive threat that Biddle has, no one knows for sure if Todd will even start. He may be replaced by Williams or Engnes but who knows, they still need Todd for size. Overall, I think Bracken has a talented team and will be better than last year, with the addition of Coach Miles. The thing they lack is defense and size. The size you can't make up, but the defense you can.

Biddle didn't participate with the team in summer play in June or early July
