Saint Henry 2014/15

Basketball season for 2014/2015 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Saint Henry? Remember, please be constructive.

Lost one important senior in Marks. Was only inside presence other than Neace. No other losses.

Neace is a fine center. Need her to stay out of foul trouble as I see no other size.Expect to see significant improvement from Noble as she got better as season went on. Injuries hurt this squad. Team will go as far as guard Miller can take them. Has talent but appeared tentative at times. Needs to be confident in her game and take pressure off inside game...So, if all return, it should be a fine squad, similar to last year.

Crusaders have a nice frosh group coming in. All but one player from Immaculate Heart of Mary's 8th girls team are headed to St Henry. They had a stellar season last year. I think they were both the NKMSL champs and the Diosesan champs. I can't recall the season record but it was very impressive.

Coach appeared to do a lot to reach out to to the feeder schools to generate interest this winter. Smart move.

There is one fine athlete coming from St. Catherine in Fort Thomas who if she plays basketball will only enhance an already talented freshman class.

Looks like they will have a large group of upperclassmen which is always a good thing. Neace anchoring the middle, plus Jordan Miller, Sammy Hentz, Carly Lehmkuhl and Connor McGinnis are a solid - if not very very good- group. Experience, height and speed. Throw in Jordan Noble and I think those are your top 6 players.

Couple underclassmen that should contribute would be Marelena Kellam, Maddie Darlington and Anna Voskuhl. Whatever the Frosh class gives will be a bonus but I'd like to hope with such a large Sr, Jr and Soph class that the need for pulling girls up would be unnecessary.

2nd year in Coach Sturgeon's system should prove to be a good one IMO.

St. Henry will have a very nice group of young ladies coming in this year. With the IHM , St, Paul and other schools they have feeding them. They should have a very strong freshman class . Take nothing away from the Upper Classmen , this should be a very exciting year for the Cru at all 3 levels !

Should be a Good Season for St. Henry this year. Strong Senior Leadership and looks to be a very deep bench for the Crusaders! :thumb:

Have heard several reports that St. Henry does not have a freshman team this year. Can anyone confirm this?

Oops, meant to post this in the boys' forum. Sorry.

St.Henry girls frosh should have a very strong team. Lot of talent in this class for them.

The boys frosh had close to 30 try out and should also be strong. They kept 15.

Lady Cru scrimmaged Walton Verona at Highlands Saturday morning.

Everyone a little sloppy - too many turnover all around- but I liked the hustle and heart of both teams. Don't know the girls name from Walton Verona, but she did a little of everything and clearly the team runs thru her. St Henry didn't get it down into Neace as much as I would have liked, but probably had a lot to do with Walton Verona pressing almost every possession and St Henry not getting a lot of designated plays run. IMO, Jordan Miller will prove to be the teams most valuable player. She's a whirlwind on the court. Needs to cut down on TO's but has all the tools.

Overall St Henry won the first 20 min period- the second 20 min period ended in a tie with girls from St Henry's JV squad playing the last 5 minutes. Third 20 minute period between purely JV ended with St Henry winning. Actually St. Henry played their Frosh squad the last 15 minutes of the third period.

Start it off with Bishop Brossart tomorrow night!

Nice summary, Bluedad. Thanks!

Can't start a topic so I'll add to this one.

Lady Cru makes a clean sweep of Bishop Brossart last night.

Frosh win (did not get score)

JV wins 31-29 (coming back from a 10 point first half deficit

Varsity wins 60-50 (also coming back from a 10 point deficit

Fun game to watch- both teams had their share of highlights. Lady Cru Varsity also overcoming a 27-14 foul differential and far too many turnovers which needs to get cleaned up. Three starters with four fouls on the floor with four minutes left. Jordan Miller a whirlwind with drives and put backs, but needs to play more under control as one of the primary ball handlers. If that happens, great things will happen for this team IMO.
