August 4, 201412 yr Not at all! I am all for every pro player getting every penny they can. My gut says VB is a great guy that's thankful the Bengals gave him the opportunity they have and VB is confident the Bengals will do him right when the time comes. In other words, VB is loyal, maybe to a fault. And one knee could ruin all of that. As a player, those things might make me re-consider my loyalty when the time comes. Seriously, where would this defense be without him?
August 4, 201412 yr The Bengals typically under value their LB's. Not sure why but they put a lot of draft emphasis on DLine, corner and safety.

Agreed! Geno is one of the best defensive players in football, however as we seen the Bengals were still a top defense without him. If you take away Burfict thoguh, and then this defense could be in some trouble. He seriously does everything for them!
August 4, 201412 yr You could argue that VB went from being a complimentary player to Geno to being the man once Atkins went out. Those two on the field together could be something special. A little something from the corners and this D could be fantastic. I'm talking Ray Lewis Ravens type of fantastic.

I think if VB stays healthy he will be the closest thing to a Ray Lewis type of player than any other LB in the NFL.
August 4, 201412 yr First, I think NKY was trying to say the D would be like the Ravens with Lewis, not that VB would be like Ray, unless I misunderstand. Secondly, I think it might be a bit premature to crown VB a first ballot HOF'er. But I'm glad you guys are excited.
August 4, 201412 yr Burfict is more of an integral piece to this team than Dalton is. Without him and a good draft pick at LB this D is one legged. This is still the same franchise that has ReyMal "welded, not penciled" in at starter. I said that this team doesn't have the vision to compensate and value the LB positition the way the consistent playoff winners do!

They will go as far as he takes them. That is not to slight VB at all, the Bengals would have a pretty good "D" without him, not top 5, but probably Top 10. With that said, Dalton with quality play could still get the Bengals to the Super Bowl without VB. The scary thing, though, is we can see VB getting better, no one is sure about Dalton.
