Lee/Leslie Predictions

Featured Replies

Yes, Fetters didn't play much last year but improved greatly over the summer. How many players did Leslie lose last year? I picked Leslie to win the region before the season started. They have played inconsistant maybe because of injuries. I have alot of respect for the Leslie players and coaches. I am pulling for my Bobcats though to pull the upset.

I think another factor also is that Tyler Rich wasn't used in the same way last year that he is this year. Last year's Bobcats didn't go to him very much, choosing instead on focusing their offense around T.J. Howard, as well as a perimeter orrinted game. This Lee County team is much more inside to out in their offense, much more balanced, and much more dangerous.....plus they're getting some great play from players that didn't see a lot of action last year, mainly Fetters, but also Johnson, Taulbee, and Wetherspoon.

You have to give a lot of credit this season to Coach Wright. It seems that he finally "gets it". The last few years, Lee Co. has had talent, but they played undisciplined basketball. They would often take LOTS of ill-advised shots and did not play to their strengths. Last years team with Howard and Rich on the interior could have been a nearly unstoppable force, but instead, Howard spent most of his time 20 feet from the basket, and Rich was not utilized. This season, Coach Wright has slowed the tempo, played excellent half-court defense, and made the interior play of Rich the focal point of the team. These adjustments are why Lee Co. may be the favorite to win the 14th this season.

Coach Wright has definately matured and grown as a coach. C'mon cut the man some slack mountainman... who of us was perfect at our first job out of college? ha ha - I'm just joking around. Watching Coach Wright makes me feel ancient ... perhaps wisdom comes with my old age *L* I doubt it. Great post though and analysis Mountainman.

Anyway, back on topic... I think Leslie will have the edge in this one. They are definately heavily favored amongst the basketball fans I know.

Lee by 5.....Last years game was very close at Lee until lee took a timeout they didn't have that sealed it. Best game of the season coming up on Tuesday

I don't know how anyone could "heavily favor" either team in this game. If either of he twins heat up,and one of the other is likely to, then Lee is a winner. Brandenburg is one of the best point guards in the region, and Taulbee could start at that position most anyplace else. Fetters can defend anybody, and can flat jump out of the gym. I am telling you, he got a crucial tip-in during the first half Friday night and it looked as though his waist was even with the top of everyone else's head. (I'm sure frontrowfan recalls the one of which I speak, because it kind of changed the momentum at that point of the game). Rich is big and strong, and is not intimidated by anyone inside. Johnson is another good defensive player, and Lee doesn't lose much when he is in the game. I don't think that fans on the east end of the region have seen Lee and Estill enough to understand how good the 56th district was this year, and what kind of threat BOTH of these teams are. It is just as likely a Lee vs. Estill final as Hazard vs. Leslie.

They did that this year in their game at Perry Central. The Lee scorekeeper needs to make sure that the coaches and players know EXACTLY how many time outs they have called. I kept a scorebook for years, and that's one thing I made very sure the coaches knew about.

Of course, sometimes players will call a time out in certain situations regardless of what they have been told....mainly out of habit or the intenseness of the moment.

Michigan did the same thing in the 1993 NCAA championship game against North Carolina, and it sealed their fate in that game.

So what do we know about the Eagles?

Im quite familiar with the bobcats but as of yet know nothing about Leslie. Any one know what their strenths and weaknesses are?

They are extremely physical,3 kids are about 6'5',very athletic, and play extremely hard.

The only weakness I have seen is they sometimes play out of control..

Just being honest.....

What cost them the game with Hazard? I've read that Hicks had a poor game - and typically the bulldogs go as Hicks goes.

There had some other players that had huge games like the Campbell kid who had 18.. They have 6 kids that average 8+ points per game. THey can shoot very well at times like recently when they shot 68% against JBS a couple of weeks ago.

I'm still very surprised to see them fall to Hazard in a game where Hicks played poorly. I dont see them getting by Lee - a team that is filled with 6-7 big game players.

Just on other note .....Kevin Spurlock has a 16-1 record in this gym....

I believe that this could be aa big of win in points as some of the Leslie fans are predicting but by Lee. I think Lee matches up real well with Leslie and the couple of times I have seen Leslie this year they are real good when they are on and they are real average when they are off. I don't think Lee goes up and down as much as Leslie. Lee stays fairly constant . If they both show up with A games I think it's a last second shot. If not, and Leslie comes in at average and Lee at average then I think the Bobcats by 7 or 8.

I tell you one thing I am not sure who will win but I will be there to watch it....
