August 11, 201412 yr RM I am loathe to pile on with Mountain Ref but the Republicans did try to offer changes to ObamaCare but were shut down and no I won't offer example because a simple Google search will find them. Currently Harry Reid will not let a single piece of legislation go through if Republicans have any support for it at all and he will not allow and amendments to any bill that he will allow a vote on. He has used the nuclear option (that he and Obama both railed against when the Dems were a minority) in order to pack the DC circuit court with judges sympathetic to him. Do you really not see the obstruction that the Dems are throwing out?

To get you started down that path, please take a look at the website linked below. If you do not want to take time to read details, then at least look at the number of bills passed by the House versus the bills passed by the Senate. Harry Reid and the Democrats have changed Senate rules so that Republicans have been allowed to propose very few amendments to bills in the Senate. Why? Because it is more important for him to retain control of the Senate than it is to pass legislation. The fewer tough votes that Democrats who have seats that are being contested in 2014 have to cast, the better their chances of retaining their seats. By restricting the minority party's right to introduce amendments to Democratic bills, Reid is ensuring that very little compromising will occur. Open Congress
