When was the last time NCC lost a regular season game against a district opponent?

 

Overall against 2A teams since 2007....50-5. 3 losses in state finals, 2 in regional finals.

Extremely impressive. What do you think is the main reason for NCC's success? I know they have always been a solid program but that have really turned it up a notch, as far as advancing deep in the playoff. Is it going to 6 classes or are these NCC teams simply better than those of the 90's?

Honestly, adjusting to the times. NewCath is always going to be like Highlands lite, smaller, athletic kids who are disciplined. You can't line up in the Texas formation and run triple option. We couldn't do that in the late 90's and moved to an I-pro look, but that still didn't play close to our strengths. I think of Eddie Eviston running a spread/option attack with the receivers we had...of course w/ all grass fields we still would have had to stop those Beechwood offensive lines of the 90s. With Dave Schneider taking over the offense mid season in '00, the whole complexion of the program changed.

There is a "boat load" of teams that need one of these.

What high school teams actually have a "kicking coach"? Unless they have performed the craft at some time in the past, they certainly would not be of much assistance.

Cov Cath had one for several years, but he's not there anymore. Many coach's have learned different "crafts"......they're called clinics. That's why some coach's consider themselves a jack of all trades.:wave:

Wow, coaches can learn the intricacies of kicking by attending clinics. Did the CovCath kicking coaches have success because of their knowledge or the fact that Popham and Talkers were really gifted? I would tend to think the latter.

In my opinion, I'd say between 2005-2013 there was just a serious bump in talent at NCC. The one down year in that span being 2009. There's seemingly about to be a drop off from that nearly decade-long trend though.

All of the athelete's are talented in their own way, but are you saying no one taught them? No one helped refine their craft? You probably think every quaterback coach was a qb, every line coach was a lineman? Wrong!

NCC has a 50/50 shot of making it past the regional playoff.

I don't know when you have a Jacob Smith on your team and nominate Pre Game Player of the year and with stats like this as a Sophomore I think that 50/50 is blown out the water...

He totaled 2,000 yards as a sophomore, rushing for a team high 1,020 yards on 190 carries with 16 total td and ranking third in both receptions 21 and receiving yards 350. He totaled nearly 600 yards and returns......THIS ONLY SOPHOMORE YEAR I PRAY HE STAYS INJURY FREE AND PROVES THAT HARD WORK PAYS OFF... NEWPORT KIDS RULE....

If the Breds are smart they let Smith touch it 30+ times. Henschen is 6'4? Wow nice size for a soph.

Ncc has a fairly decent jr class by 2a standards. The significant drop won't hit until after the 2015 season. After that, they might be getting whipped by all the river city schools up and down the Ohio.
