Black Teen Records Workers Following Him Around Store; They Think He is Stealing

In the past some of have said that you wouldn't have a problem with the police coming into your home to search for drugs because...you weren't guilty....nothing to hide.

Should this kid feel the same way? He's not doing anything wrong and has nothing to hide. What's the harm in following him around? Or does the level of the potential crime determine which rights you're willing to give up?

Are you going to be watching it live?

No.

Not the same. They weren't coming into my house to look for drugs because I'm a white male.

I knew that was coming. Why does it matter what the reason was? You got selected for some reason. It wasn't a door-to-door search for drugs.

But..maybe they WERE looking at you because you fit a profile of which white and male were two. You don't know why they selected you.

I would also ask yourself if you were/are bothered by "Muslim-looking" people getting an extra patdown or if you were bothered by the controversial AZ law that would have allowed police to demand ID from people that looked like they might be illegals.

Yes and Yes, answering for myself.

Yes, both fall into the same category.

It still wouldn't bother me, but I haven't been discriminated against nor my family because of my skin color.

I actually meant to include "Rockmom, you don't have to reply."

What wouldn't bother you? Police searching your home for no reason?

Yes, both fall into the same category.

We agree they fall into the same category. I seem to remember a lot of people being OK with the AZ law.

It wouldn't bother me to the extent I feel their violating my rights. Now if they're going to be trashing my house doing a search then yeah I'm not going to be real happy about that.

 I have been pretty consistent in previous discussions on the matter. :D

Let me say "wow."

Let's say 5 police cars show up at your abode and they are searching for child pornography and one of the officers tells your neighbor that's why they're there. You obviously have no such thing and never would.

You're still "Hey, no biggie as long as they don't break my computer?"

I obviously would have no problem with them searching my computer because I would have nothing to hide. Now them telling my neighbors I'm a pedophile suspect or suspected of having child pornography then yeah I would have a huge problem.
