What's the sampling size of games that you have seen Hedley that you all are basing your opinions on?? I have seen her compete at a high level in many game situations at many levels of competition and she can flat out finish at will anywhere on the floor! There are few young women who have her speed and strength that can match her defensively.

 

I guess we'll see soon enough. Just knowing there are girls in the state (in her class) that have interest from UCONN makes me feel they are probably on a much different level. Not taking anything away from Tubbs...again...a good player. But statewide and Ms KY is a stretch! I'm not sold that she will be the best in the ninth region yet. Yes, she is good. But I have seen her play and I know A LOT of the competition she is playing against. She does well, but I'm not ready to crown her the best in the region just yet. Again, time will tell. I have absolutely nothing against the young lady and hope the best for her, but I'll need to see it first. If she is, I'll be the first to come back on her and give her the props she deserves. I promise!!

 

On another note...if she is as good as you state, then Holmes should be untouchable in the 9th this year with two impact transfers to an already pretty good team.

Ohio is the 3rd most highly recruited state behind California and Texas. For her to make a name for herself as a freshman and follow it up her sophomore year without the luxury of expensive camps and training is impressive! She will do well no doubt in my mind!!

Interest and offers are a much different thing. Again, many girls in her grade in the state that WILL play at that level and already have offers.

 

I understand that Ohio is a nice recruiting area. However, when you refer to her making a name for herself in Ohio high school bball, who was she playing against when she was averaging 19 and 26?

 

Again, not trying to put her down at all. But I still think you're statement is a little overstated. Have you seen the girls down state that I'm referring to? I have. She is not on their level yet. That I have seen. And if she's anywhere close, Holmes won't lose a ninth region game. Because the girls I'm talking about, there isn't a double team in the region that could keep them from dominating a game in the ninth.

 

I know she is good. Not taking that away at all. And she may come in and have a great year. I hope she does. But you are putting a lot of pressure on her before she even plays a game. I looked up the competition Norwood played last year. The only big team I saw on the schedule beat Norwood up pretty good, with Norwood only scoring 33. Everyone else that I can remember on their schedule were very small schools that aren't really known for athletics. Just saying if she comes in and avgs 18-20 against the bigger schools, I'm on the band wagon and will be there with ya!!

 

All I'm saying is I know she is good and time will tell. But you're putting a lot of pressure on her.

That is a legit question and don't forget Beechwood was pretty good last year too. Although bottom line is Girls basketball can be up for grabs a lot. Look at last year when NCC and ND play a regular season game that looked like a bad 5th grade girls game and then they both make it to the Region final. NCC won the Region with 1 star player and 1 guard who could handle the ball and drive and about 5 other role players and lost to the State Champ by 2 points in the Sweet 16. Bottom line is some team has an off night and they can easily be bounced. Should be a fun year.

Not sure. That definitely becomes a very tough district. But all are unproven and will have a lot to work through. I don't think there is a clear cut favorite in the 9th. Every team has kinks in their armor that aren't hard for opposing teams to find and expose. It will likely come down to which team can adapt each night to the things teams will throw at you. I think in certain types of games, some teams in the 9th are VERY good. But I'm not sure any of them can adapt to every style of play and every defensive strategy that can be thrown at you. Meaning in the past, I think the good teams in the ninth were pretty strong and could adapt or force their will on you. We have some strong teams this year, but I just don't feel any one or two will dominate. HC definitely has the potential to be very good, but still think they will struggle more than some think. Not early, but mid to late season.

All admission fees should have been returned to those that paid to watch that "God awful" display. That game set girl's high school hoops back 10 years.

the transfer question gets blown out of proportion more often then not. If the receiving school AD has his or her ducks in a row, especially if its classified under "bonafied change of address" with end of rental/lease agreement, sellers agreement with a realtor, or a completed sales agreement AND a new rental/lease agreement or purchase agreement from a realtor in the receiving school attendance district I have never seen a transfer fail. Its when they send in half done paperwork, or the kid has no immediate family living in the area & whoever they are living with haven't went through the proper channels to be their full custodian is when it blows back on them & then they feel like they have been done wrong & it goes to a he says- she says @ that point.

 

not being able to afford the tuition @ a private school or walking distance are non-factors in the determination @ the KHSAA level.

these are pretty cut & dry in my opinion, its the work that the Ad puts into it being done correctly honestly. They can and have been mislead by people before, dont get me wrong, but its kind of hard to get around these types of situations. It also takes cooperation from the sending school AD to get back with them in a timely manner. This is easier in-state than out of state though for sure. The KY varsity participation transfer form is a 7 page document of information & many out of state transfer forms are very simple documents with a few yes or no questions from what I know.
