July 24, 201412 yr Once you go saltwater, it's hard to go back....for real. Even the big fish here are nothing like catching saltwater fish. I love it. To each his own. I've gone the saltwater route, and while I enjoyed the experience, wouldn't think for a moment about trading it for my freshwater experiences. Call me misguided, but to me there is nothing like a smallmouth on light tackle. The Red Snapper are beautiful!!!
July 24, 201412 yr To me, there's just nothing like catching a shark. Not only do they fight like the dickens, they can and will attack you once you land them if you aren't careful. There's nothing like that rush for me.

And Mustang, you know how fond I am of the smallies. But those amberjack on topwater is an absolute riot and they are so stout it's amazing. Kinda like smallies only bigger without the aerial displays.
July 25, 201412 yr We were in Fort Morgan last week. A few houses down a man and his son had lines in the surf pretty much all day every day. Talked to them one day and to see if they had caught anything, said the day before they caught 4 sharks, one being an 80ish lb tiger.
July 25, 201412 yr First ever saltwater fish I caught was an amberjack off the coast of South Carolina. Traveled a "far piece" to the gulf stream. Felt like I was still in the ocean two days later after 8-10' seas that trip. It was brutal. But that was the best fish I ever ate. That was 32 years ago and I remember that amberjack like it was yesterday… :lol2:
