I am mixing this up a little:

Based on the starters lost, returnees, and the success of the younger teams last season, Trinity should be ranked number 1 in Kentucky 6A. The Rocks may lose a few to the out of state teams and go undefeated in Kentucky. The five game post season winning streak is what matters most.

Private school history would support that assertion. Take away the big two and the metro district is no better than the NKY district over the past 10 years. The metro is riding the coat tails of T and X and some long ago success by Male.

I would disagree because the only thing that kept Male from the title in 01, 02 and 06 was Trinity. No offense to Ryle but Male would have smoked them that year. Outside of a handful of instances like Simon Kenton in 2009 and Ryle in 2010 the Northern Kentucky "big" schools are more or less irrelevant in the largest class. Last year SK had a perfect season and lost to Butler, a team that most in Louisville would agree was not the best of the city last season.

 

I am not saying that Northen Kentucky wouldn't have looked better without Trinity and St.X around but even so the better public schools in Louisville have been much more competitive against them than more often than the NKY schools have been.

 

 

Besides aren't there counties up in NKY that have open enrollment anyway? That by itself should make a big difference.

Open enrollment in the 6A schools in NKY is really a myth. Boone and Campbell do not have open enrollment, Kenton does (kinda). I believe that Scott HS is still accepting students but Dixie and SK are full and can't take transfers within the district.

Ryle had a good year 4 years ago and SK has done nothing in the playoffs of note since 2009. Explain to me how they were better last year, when Male was definitely #3 behind SC and Meade County, or 2012 where PRP made the finals or 2010 when Male was in the finals.

 

Really outside of Louisville teams the only ones that have anything to crow about recently are Scott County and Meade County.

Not even close. I am not sure they are worthy of the top 10. Just because you knock out SK doesn't have much indication of future success. It all depends on returning players and the established system in the schools.

 

It all depends on who is coming back at Meade. I know Male has a large group coming back and Trinity returns a number of starters from last year as well. St. X probably should be outside the top 5 for now.

 

I would put SC and Male and 1 and 2 with T at 3 to start. As far as the rest of the field well that depends on who is coming back.

After this season, northern Kentucky probably won't have to worry about playing Jefferson County schools for four years.

It's a scrimmage I understand, but for the past three years, St. X has shown SK why they shouldn't be in the conversation each and every season right off the bat.

Meade does have SOME pieces back -- Addessa (TE-FB/LB-DE), Kaiser (RB/LB), Robey (OL/DL), Stegner (TE/LB), Wilson (QB/DB -- but lost MOST of its stat guys. Not a whole lot of returning rushing yardage, TDs, receiving yards.

 

Meade also lost its defensive coordinator, Tim Mattingly, who took the Central Hardin job (after Perry left Central Hardin for Lexington Catholic).

 

Meade, like most years, will be solid. Could start slow. Always dangerous at the end of the year.

 

Not so sure Meade is top-five.

 

Another team to look out for is Central Hardin. Defense should be way improved with Mattingly.

 

Most every single skill position is back. Remember, CH beat Collins last year (who beat Highlands) and also beat McCracken AT McCracken in the playoffs.

 

This year, McCracken would have to make the long trek to Cecilia.
