Montgomery County is the host for the Recreation Bowl. The stadium is in Mt. Sterling.

 

It's the nicest facility for high school football I've ever been in.

It is a great atmosphere.

Mayfield and Danville top the list. Playing at Mayfield was like playing at home. They had a huge home stand and the entire field was surronded (sp). Boy could it get loud!!!! When people show up to watch Danville play it is a great atmosphere. We also have one of the best stadiums and fields in Kentucky.

I'm a little surprised nobody has yet mentioned the "Stadium of Champions" at Hopkinsville/Christian County. It's probably not as cozy as many of the smaller school's stadiums, but boy, are the facilities first class! I think you could likely drive 6 hours in any direction and not find a facility any nicer. But I was impressed with Danville's accomodations when we went there 2 years ago. Mayfield's War Memorial Stadium while pretty old, still has a good football atmosphere. Tilghman's Memorial Stadium offers a very nice facility. Marshall County's "Carroll Traylor Stadium" is also a very nice playing field.

I was really impressed with Danville's stadium. It was a great place to play...it kind of just jumps out at you when you are going down the road to get to it. I know all of the Oldham County fans were impressed and a bit envious as well. Great tradition there!

Is there an echo in here? I must agree on 3 of the stadiums previously reported on here. Having played my home games at PUTNAM STADIUM I am somewhat biased, but that place really gets your blood pumping. The 4th quarter agianst Boyd last week was a perfect example: the 'Cats scored 29 second half points and each time they scored, that great big cannon went off, sending chills up my spine and a big cloud of smoke into the air, which lingered seemingly forever and gave the field an almost surreal appearance. Putnam is a MUST SEE!!!

Other than that, both Portsmouth and Ironton are worth the drive to see their historic venue's, although it seems I always end up leaving there sad.:irked:

The best that I have seen was Hopkinsville.

The only negative about Putnam would have to be the locker rooms. They are so bad the home team doesn't even use them. Has there ever been any talk of doing something about them?

I had heard at one time there was talk of building a "field house" in the end zone but they were unable to get the property.

Any info on this?

I would love to but that is the same date as the Bell County versus Rockcastle County game. Thank you anyways.

I am sorry, but I must disagree. It may be a nice place to watch a game, but the field with the track so close to the playing surface is down right dangerous.

Bardstown's, Garnis Martin Field has a great atmosphere...

Besides Bardstown, I liked Danville's Field (2 years ago)...and the all time favorite field would have to be Louisville's Cardinal Stadium....(GAME DAY WEEK 15)...

Putnam Stadium no doubt about it, never seen the locker rooms.

But what those people did to the field last year was a shame.
