We're on the same page here. No question he was using race. Not saying he is racist - that's different. He did, though, USE race when it had no bearing on the story.

I've never heard of this guy, and I'm in no way justifying what this lady or the others that followed her did, but I can see why the woman was upset about the picture. There is no way he was taking a picture of anything but her. Seriously, what is he trying to say he was taking a picture of?

 

He's on a public street. He can take a picture of anything he wants and the woman has no right to complain, whatsoever.

That's assuming she didn't ask or tell him not to take her picture. I have a hard time believing he didn't provoke her somehow to incite that reaction.

Doesn't matter. Public right-of-way is fair game. Don't want to have your picture taken, don't walk on the public streets.

Maybe you have legal protection there, but if you're going out of your way to shoot people who don't want their picture taken, especially women, you're probably going to get a comeuppance at some point, legal or not. I'd be skeeved out if someone was following me around taking pictures of me, specifically.

Well, there's a difference between snapping a shot and then moving on to find another subject v. following a single person around and making them a photo project. At the end of the day, the photog still has to have some common sense.

 

But again, it still doesn't matter. Public thoroughfares are still fair game for everybody.
