Most Vacation Time as Far as Presidents Go.

Featured Replies

In all fairness, any president is NEVER away from the job, they still work via the same secure lines in the WH. But not sure why R's complain about Obama.

What else do they have to talk about? For a party that hates Obama they sure haven't proven to be smart enough to defeat him. Twice.

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anyone blame Bush for Obama's failures in this thread. :idunno::idunno:
Yes. I believe that you missed it the point of the thread. Bush took too many vacation days and left a huge mess for poor Obama.

Oh, so you inferred that from the post? Gotcha. :thumb:

So Obama likes to golf and Bush liked to sit on the front porch and drink. Or did he hunt and fish instead of playing golf? Big deal. Should presidents never drink since they are always on the job? I'd be more concerned with how much my president is drinking opposed to where he is teeing off at.
Bush loved to golf but thought it was inappropriate to be on the links while troops were deployed in combat zones. Bush often held meetings with heads of state in Crawford, including Putin. The media probably counted those days as vacations too.

My point is who cares about their 'vacation' days? They never get a true vacation while serving in the office. Have you ever been elected a president of anything? I have and trust me, even a president of a local union does not get to fully enjoy a true 'vacation' without conducting business at some point. Hell, I was in Cozumel and turned on my wifi for 5 minutes to iMessage my kids and my phone blew up from people trying to get a hold of me. The POTUS can be reached anywhere in the world at anytime. I do not care about their vacation days and anytime they can steal away for some peace and quiet is A-OKAY with me. Those fellas deserve it. I don't care how crappy of a job people may think they do. Everyone deserves some peace and quiet at some point. Bush was the serving president at the time of 9/11. If he needed a little extra time to himself, so be it. Same goes for Obama. And whoever the next president may be.

At the same time, I can admit that Obama has done a less than stellar job. Can you admit that Bush did a less than stellar job also and that our country likely will not be fixed for another decade or so and that our downfall began while Bush was president or would that still be "blaming Bush for Obama's failures"? Won't the next president get to blame Obama for his/her failures? Would that president be correct?

I have admitted that Bush did less than a stellar job repeatedly. I would rate him average as a president, the same ranking as I would give Clinton. I would rank George H.W. Bush a little higher, despite the fact that I did not vote for him for a second term. Carter earns a D from me (only for effort). With Obama, when the going gets tough, he gets going to a golf course or a campaign fundraiser.

As for the next president blaming Obama for his or her own failures - I will be very disappointed if that is the case. Hopefully, our next president will not be a total failure and feel the constant need to seek the comfort of a scapegoat.

Rep and Dem continue to prove they are not doing the job, so why keep electing them?
Because nobody else is electable, at least on the national level. The best chance to reform the two parties is to throw out the top party leadership and I am all for tossing out Reid, Pelosi, Wasserman-Shultz, Durbin, McConnell, Boehner, Cantor, Priebus, and the rest of the national leadership of both parties.

A third-party candidate, even if elected president, would not survive a single term, IMO. The two major parties would conspire and impeach a third-party president and the media would pitch in and do their part.

Or just render him ineffective like they did Jesse "The Body" Ventura in Minnesota.

Not shocking at all but here you go. George W. Bush 1' date='020 VACATION DAYS. No wonder the country sunk as far as it did.[/quote']

What is the source for this number?

Are you saying President Bush was a drunk or big drinker in the White house or just making a comparison?

Not sure of the source, NCF will have to provide that, but I think all days away from the White House while not on official business are included.

Pretty sure Bush stopped drinking in the late 80's or early 90's.
