All you can eat tacos deemed offensive

How would those hillbillies that host Hillbilly Days feel if an organization that isn't a stereotypical hillbilly put on their own Hillbilly Days event and mocked them in the process? What if some black people decided to host a Hillbilly Day and totally mocked all Hillbillies? Is that cool?

I don't know if that would be PC or how many people would think it's cool...but if your selling tickets, save me one. I'm there!:thumb:

I ate BBQ today. I was highly offended but I still managed to get through my lunch.

I dont see the Irish people getting mad about GREEN BEER, Green hats, shamrocks, clover, etc running around.

I say we just do away with Cinco Day, it offends me.

I live in San Antonio, a town where, as a white person, I am in the minority to people of Hispanic descent.

One of my grandmother is of Irish lineage, so I'm at least 1/4th Irish. I don't get offended when the town dyes the Riverwalk green and the town spills out into the street, using St. Patrick's Day as an excuse to get hammered while wearing green. I go to a Catholic school here, and doubt that most people who go there could tell you who St. Patrick was or why he mattered.

Likewise, most around my town don't get offended by Cinco de Mayo celebrations. I would even dare say that some would argue that Mexican restaurants and Hispanic themed bars in the area do as much, if not more, harm by the way they market the holiday than anyone else (I personally heard two students have a reasonable debate about this exact topic). This isn't to say that those two people spoke for overly broad demographics, just something that I thought was interesting and to be considered. Cinco isn't even nearly as big of a deal in San Antonio as Fiesta.

If people are wearing ponchos and sombreros or just being overtly stereotypical in a pejorative way, then that's one thing, but I'm not sure hosting an all you can eat taco bar fundraiser on Cinco de Mayo is really up there on the list of offenses all things considered.

Be honest Deuce, how often did you have to meet with the Dean?
