April 24, 201412 yr Gutzy comparing Dalton to Manning. Not at all my intention, except that writing off a guy after 3 years could be premature.
April 24, 201412 yr Peyton Manning didn't win a playoff game until his 6th year, but by all means, let's throw out Dalton after 3. I'm not arguing Marvin, clearly as my last post referenced "first three years", but to claim "you're not gonna win a Super Bowl with either of them" after 3 years seems a bit over-the-top. The biggest difference however is that when Peyton was drafted he went to a team decimated. They were bad. Bengals were a lot farther along with better players to start.
April 24, 201412 yr Manning lost his 1st three playoff games, won his 4th in year 6. The Colts were not horrible if they were in the playoffs those years. The talk was unbelievable on Manning until he did. He was labeled he could not win the big game. Lost to Florida every time in college, also. It is way premature and no I don't think Dalton is in the same class as Manning. Manning Playoffs 1st 3 games: Passer Ratings Game 1- 63 Game 2 82 Game 3 31 He only threw 2 picks total in those three games. Got crushed 41-0 by Jets in Game 3. April 24, 201412 yr Not at all my intention, except that writing off a guy after 3 years could be premature. He certainly has shown positive improvement each year. We can only hope with experience and maturity comes a better ability to perform in the clutch.
April 27, 201412 yr "Tippy" Dalton...I call him that because his long passes get tipped so much...has like MARVIN never won a playoff game WITH POSSIBLY the best offensive unit in football. I not only would not sign him long term I might start Jason Campbell this year. The little red pistol will never win the big one
