Title IX Issue? Is this wrong or right

Several years ago local group of baseball parents raised the money for and built an indoor practice facility for their baseball team. Softball team showed up within a day or two demanding equal access. I understand if it was a school paid for facility and I understand sharing the facility with the softball team. But do they have a "Right" to it?

Ahhhh nope. A good partner would have included them in the fundraising with the understanding they would split time though.

My understanding is they tried to, but had no interest from the Softball boosters in the project until it was completed. But since it was built on school property they had to share, which is fine. I've got no problem with them sharing it, just in this case baseball did all of the heavy lifting.

Another example of what's wrong with this world. Should have built it off site and told softball to take a hike if they weren't interested in helping to build it.

Was in Miami many moons ago, and one of the guys showing us around took us by a high school baseball field. He said they had a state-of-the-art pressbox built by the baseball boosters...and had to tear the thing down because the school didn't have the funds to funnel towards the girls softball program. So the only way to make things "equal" was to take away from the "haves"...even though the "have nots" didn't get anything one way or another.

As long as the building was funded privately, I see no problems with allowing baseball only. If the school is the one building this stuff then I would understand the "equal" argument, but if done privately, then school dropped the ball here.

Thank you, thank you.

Seems as if that is becoming the way.

I wouldn't think so unless it was on school property.

It was not surprising in the article that rather than take initiative and do the same thing for their team, someone simply complained about the improvements.
