Word has it at 8:15am Softball City said fields would be ready, however only one field worker showed up (3 were no-shows) this morning. When I arrived at 4:30 Fields 1&2 were a complete disaster......they resembled a field ready to be sowed. The one worker got Field 3 looking quite playable. At 6:30 both fields 1 &2 were still a "work in progress".

 

Right now Boone Co, Christian Academy-Louisville, & Ludlow are playing at Bartlett Field. Ryle and Lloyd played at Lloyd.

 

Bracket Co. & Simon Kenton dropped out.

Clarification- Bracken County dropped out, SK was left with no one to play.

What are the plans for this tourney with the lovely NKY Spring weather?

May continue on Sunday but I would think this is doubtful. Would take at least some sun, 4 bazillion tons of diamond dry and at least a few workers to show up to get them ready

It will continue tomorrow waiting t see who is in & who's not. Right now BBHS, Knock (PA), Simon Kenton & St. Henry has responded they are in. Hopefully have he revised brackets done around 12:00-1:00

I was misinformed, sorry.

Unfortunately the only thing Rob got right at The City tonight was the parking and collecting the gate. Bracken took their ball and went home dropping out of the tourney because of field conditions. Any amount of rain at all tonight and the fields are washed for tomorrow. This is not BBHS fault, but Robbie D should have to refund money for this one. The outfields are very rough and do not appear to have been mowed at the end of last year. This whole place is in bad shape from fencing to backstop netting. It's a shame because it use to be a great complex.

 

Anybody that did not play at Softball City (Boone Co., CAL, Ludlow, Ryle, & Lloyd) should have been refunded their $6 gate fee.

Had Robbie Dixon called Mel and Coach Baynum in the afternoon to let them know about the lack of workers and fields not going to be ready a few schools could have hosted these games to make this workout for everyone involved. Simon Kenton, St. Henry, Boone Co. to name a few. Also NewCath could of had 3 fields to offer, and all with lights. However, with the late decision to move, Bartlett Field was the only option, as we were unable to get a key to turn on the lights at Vets 1 & 2.

Sounds familiar but Brossart shouldn't be surprised as it was just as screwed up last year. Then late in the night they closed a good field and moved games to the crappiest one up front. Remember the NDA Bracken game last year on Friday night. It literally looked like a feed lot where cattle had been walking in between the mound and home plate. Mud holes were six inches deep everywhere they stepped.

 

When I arrived at 4:30 this is what both Fields 1 & 2 looked like....and it was the ENTIRE field, not just one area. I wish I had taken a picture because you would absolutely :poop: your pants had you seen them. :eek:

Softball City needs to hire the Simon Kenton field maintenance team to learn how to get fields in proper playing condition. :thumb:

Field 3 was in good shape to play! The grass was a little long but wasn't too bad. I don't think field conditions could be blamed for any misplays that I saw during either of the HHS Games.

 

Field 2 looked as if it had been plowed and disced and was ready for planting. I think they would of struggled to get that field ready to play safely this morning even if it wouldn't of rained this morning. I bet it is 3 inches deep of mud right now!

Actually Field #2 was in the best shape of all of them when I left last night. We played 2 games on field 1 last night and midway through the first game the field actually wasn't that bad. I was surprised .
