Finals from last night at Bartlett Field

 

Christian Academy-Louisville 4 - Boone Co. 4 in 7 innings.

Christian Academy-Louisville 19 - Ludlow 0 in 3 innings.

Boone has permission to play but somehow may be left out. Sounds a little fishy to me. The kids just want play, we are prepared to play who ever they give us but it sounds like as usual Boone will be left out. This should be a good tournament for the local teams. Teams just stood around with no real word from anyone about when we might play. Teams were arrainging thier games to be played at other fields on their own with no help from organizers. Christian Academy was not very happy traveling, spending money on a hotel and with no word the fields would not be ready until they walked into the park. Shout out to Lawnboy and Denny Barnes for arrainging us and Christian Acedemy to play at Bartlet Field last night.

Don't think teams will waste their time next year.

Part of the problem with this tournament is the time of year it is played. One of the earliest tournaments of the year and seems to always be bad weather. It's the nature of the area this time of year. Once again, the majority of the issues should rest squarely on Robbie Dixon and his inability to take care of the fields. As Lawnboy said, all that needed to happen was a phone call from Rob to Mel and it would have reduced a significant number of issues.

Just a FYI Boone is not left out and had no intensions to leave anybody out. Just didn't hear from Boone until after 1:00 and I already had the brackets done but I revised them to get them in. Games are scheduled to start at 2:00 ( WE'LL SEE ? ) but hopefully !! I also would like to thank NCC for getting some games at Bartlett and also Rick from Lloyd for moving a game to his field. And all the other coaches for making the best out of a bad situation. And yes a phone call would of been nice from softball city I was as surprised as everyone else when I got there since I talked to them at 7:30 that morning.

Assuming schools have to pay to enter(?) I wouldn't.

3:20 Knoch vs simon / Boone vs Highlands

4:40 BBHS vs Grant / St. Henry vs Mason County

6:00 Mason County vs Grant / Holy Cross vs Highlands

7:20 TBD - Gold Championship game & 7:20 - Silver Championship Game

Just to add my 2 cents...I think this is a great tournament and well run. I don't think Brossart is at all to blame for this. I know if they had any idea the fields would have been in that condition, they would have made arrangements or would have had people there to help with the fields. This all falls on the venue and I'm sure Brossart is not in the position to point the finger at them.

 

It's really a shame, because this is a great way to start the year and get kids energized about the season. My team loves playing in an atmosphere where there are more than 10 people watching the game. I for one think we need more of this kind of stuff in this area and I think Brossart does an outstanding job putting this together. It's a lot of work and time to coordinate something like this and to have it ruined by something that is basically out of their control is a shame.

 

My suggestion is to go somewhere else and hold the tournament. I know there are other parks that would love to have this event and would treat people and teams fairly. I know there were several people that paid to get in and didn't even get to see a game. And not only that, then had to travel to another venue watch, without getting reimbursed. That is just wrong.

 

My hope is the teams like Knock, LCA, Mason, Bracken and others from out of town that have attended this tournament don't give up on it. Us local teams LOVE seeing teams come in to play in this area. I would say, let the organizers put their heads together and don't give up on them. They will make it better.

Totally agree, RCC. Keep the tournament; change the venue.

So how many games were actually played at softball city? Did they play games on all three fields last night?

HHS played CCHS and Knoch,Pa on field 3

Are those fields really going to be playable tomorrow after all of this rain?

With the field situation last year (field #1 at least), if I was the hosting team, I would have been out there Friday morning assessing the conditions. Honestly, I would have gone prior to Friday and followed up Thursday night/Friday morning.

If they keep that venue I believe I would have to agree to paying only half the cost of the complex upfront and the other half at completion of the it being in playable conditions.

It is stupid cold out there for playing softball. :eek:

 

Hope they are able to get some games in on Sunday.
