Tigers Extend Cabrera

Love it. As a Tigers fan and an even larger Miguel Cabrera fan I love it.

I wonder if you are in the minority? This type of contract has proven to be bad for the team. Some big money teams can take it better than others and I don't see Detroit as one of those who can if/when he declines.

If people are dumb enough to give you their money, take it all.

But they've got a team capable of winning the World Series now and have the pitching to be competitive for the next 5 seasons. If they win a World Series or two in that time frame is it worth going through 4-5 years of rebuilding because of bad contracts? The Tigers haven't won a Series since 1984, Ilitich probably isn't too concerned with 10 years from now. I'd wager that this move was dictated by him and not the front office.

Crazy money. Not sure how much longer baseball can keep throwing this money around.

Baseball contracts are disgusting.
