Powell County Coaching Position

Bobby coached under Al Holland, Dave Fraley and was an assistant on South Laurel's state championship team. From what I was told, yes Hammonds did apply.

Where is Bobby now and has he coached lately?

Give us some info on Bowling. Would love to see Hammonds get the job. Are you sure he applied?

Looks like Hammonds and Starns are in a race to see who can coach the most high schools in the state of Kentucky. Does anyone know who actually holds that record(if there is such a thing)?

Curtis Turley has to be in the running for that record

Bowling is an assistant coach at Hazard. Before that he was an assistant coach for 2 years at South Laurel and was an assistant at North Laurel the year they won the 13th region. He's also coached at various levels for Owsley and Breathitt.

He played at Owsley County for Coach Tim Bobrowski on teams that won 3 straight All A 14th region championships. He's been a basketball junkie/gym rat since he was a youngster.

Bowling's head coaching experience and record? Just being a basketball junkie doesn't always get results.

He's not been a head coach on the varsity level, but has been an assistant for 3 good programs. I'm sure even the 3 head coaches he has worked for didn't have any head coaching experience when they got their first varsity head coaching job. Every head coach had to have a first head coaching position. Hard to list "records" until you're in the position to create records.

Wonder if Powell would of still got rid of coach hall if they knew this would be the interest level of the position?

Powell County maybe leaning towards Bobby Bowling from what I hear.

If I had to guess I would agree.

I'm not sure on the teaching positions, I'm sure he'll have one tho. I believe Powell will name their head coach either sometime this week or next week. Summer ball is right around the corner.

I'm hearing it will be someone from Hazard or a former UPike player. (Whom was on the national championship team).

^ You are correct. As soon as it becomes official, I'll let everyone know who it is. It's not Bobby Bowling.
