If you're talking about physical contact we should have reached that point a long time ago.

Hard to tell by the video. BUT the 14 year old looks very arrogant in the interview, and why did her parents allow her to be interviewed, or at least by herself. Her attitude reminds me or Carman on South Park when he went on Maury or whatever and kept saying "Whatever, I'll do what I want".

 

Fighting on school busses is long overdue for a solution. If a kid starts it, there should be laws where they go to juvenile detention, as well as charged with assault. The heck with a suspension, which I never understood, a kid acts up and gets to stay out of school for a few days, wow what a lose.

Maybe the bus driver should use a belt instead. That always got me back in line growing up.

And the point I am trying to make is you have a 47 year old trying to discipline one problem child and another one that has nothing to do with the situation jumps in. All things being equal I can see where the driver felt threatened and felt she needed to defend herself. However, by defending herself, the court of public opinion, her employer, maybe the authorities, and her reputation may all suffer.

 

So the question I am asking is, are most adults better off staying completely away from kids because they get put in no win situations when the kids act out?

I think there needs to be way stiffer disciplinary consequence if video catches you acting a fool on a bus. Seriously, the driver has a huge burden just getting kids from one point to another. I'd vote for the transportation officer to be mobile during bus travel times and available at the radio call of a driver. If he has to be called out to a bus, you watch the video right there, remove the offenders, put them in the back of his car and trot their rearends to another destination. Multiple offenses lose bus privilege. If the offense is deemed harsh enough, alternative school then juvenile detention center. It's a no win for the bus driver until there are methods in place to get kids like this off the bus.

 

And no, I don't agree with the broom method. I'd prefer it, but I don't agree with it.

I'm saying that the way the laws are now an adults like this one ( Bus driver, teacher, etc....) basically have their hands tied trying to discipline a student. You lay your hands on them in any way, and you just know a lawsuit or discplinary action is on the way. It's a shame, but that's the way it is. You simply can't have any physical contact with them.

They have discipline now, it does nothing, kids dont care anymore, parents dont care anymore, its a sad state.
