The tale of two halves, as the Breds are down at the end of the 1st quarter for only the 1st time in 29 games. (minus the canceled CovCath game). Conner went right at the Breds on offense, and there was zero help-side defense to speak of. Plus, the Breds looked somewhat "lackadaisical" in their effort at times.

NewCath was also "cold" from the outside for the most part, on open looks. Conner played both, 2-3 & MTM.

Would have loved to had been a "fly on the wall" in the NewCath locker room at the half.........I'm sure Coach Dawn had some harsh words for the team.

1st Quarter - Conner played without fear and drove to the rack, they had quite a few blocked but it did not stop them, and Will Ruholt connects for 2 treys. The Breds pound inside to stay in this one, as nothing was going in from the outside.

Conner - Ruholt 10, Lamblez 4, way 2, Hemmerich 2

NewCath - Schulte 6, McDonald 4, Pangallo 4, T. Moeves 2

2nd Quarter - The Breds "D" gets better, but the outside shot for the most part was not there. Although T. Moeves and Pangallo connect from 3.

Conner - Hemmerich 5, Watts 2, Lamblez 1

NewCath - Pangallo 5, T. Moeves 4, Schulte 3, Franzen 2

3rd Quarter - Other than the 7-2 run in the final 1:48 of the quarter by the Cougars, TERRIBLE "D" by the Breds in this stretch, it was all NewCath. T. Moeves connecting on his 2nd & 3rd trey.

Conner - Hemmerich 4, Ruholt 3, Watts 2, Lamblez 1 (missing 2pts. for Conner in this Q)

NewCath - T. Moeves 8, Schulte 6, Pangallo 3, Weyer 2, G. Moeves 2

4th Quarter - Breds attack the rim, Conner doesn't give up and force's some NewCath fouls on penetration ( Conner 9 pts on FT's), but too much size dome the Cougars.

Conner - Hemmerich 6, Ruholt 6, Lamblez 4, Craddock 1

NewCath - Schulte 6, McDonald 4, Pangallo 4, Ludwig 3, G. Moeves 2, Weyer 2. (Missing 1 pt.)

NewCath 16-14-21-22--73

Conner.....18-08-12-16--54

NewCath - Schulte 21- Pangallo 16, T. Moeves 14, McDonald 8, Weyer 4, G. Moeves 4, Ludwig 3, Franzen 2

Conner - Ruholt 19, Hemmerich 17, Lamblez 10, Watts 4, Way, 2, Craddock 1.

Jake Schulte 9/10 from the field.

Will Ruholt came to play tonight, great job by this young man. Buried 3 treys.

Sam Hemmerich was solid all round, very nice player. :thumb:

Tip of the cap to Conner for a GREAT effort tonight. :ylsuper:

Was the game ever in doubt, IMHO.....NO! However, the Breds got a little "slap to the face" tonight.

I've been informed that my numbers are off. It happens when I try to post on my phone and keep score at the same time, as quick as they score sometimes. :ohbrother: :lol2:

Schulte and Pangallo both with 19.

I don't know if I'd call it a "slap in the face". Conner has a nice team. NewCath MAY be a little tired as well. Winter Dance on Sunday with school Monday. Travel to Louisville Tuesday. Exams start tomorrow. That's a long week. And Conner just played Holmes to 1 point. Cut them some slack.

Conner does have a nice team. Glad to see Will Ruholt have a nice game tonight.

Winning by 19 against a solid team is impressive to me. I think the only way you can beat NCC is take it inside and pound it. You can't back off against them. Make their big guys work hard at both ends.

Make their bigs foul you.

Would like to see a team try that sometime.

Now NCC fans---don't get all uptight on that comment. I'm also the one who says that McDonald has my POY vote! :lol2:

They may get in foul trouble and they will block a bunch. But big guys usually fatigue quicker (general statemment). Make them work. I do believe it won't matter against most teams because they are so darn good. You have to give it a shot, though.
